This was the first complete outing I've seen from Johan and he is good but there is something missing from last couple of seasons. Those sliders didn't have as much bite as they did and it appears easier for hitters to pick them up earlier and stay away. His straight change was good however, but his overall velocity looks like its lacking from last year at this time.

Welcome to the board!

These guys could definitely make an interesting first round opponent.

We'd tear them up

basing anything on tonight's game is stupid

Oh I'm not basing anything on tonight's game. I just think they're a decently talented team and they're good enough to not get swept.

I'm sure that this has been repeated like crazy, but any team that makes the playoffs has enough going for them to be problematic. The Mets, despite their injuries, have enough firepower offensively that if they get hot they would need just minimal pitching.

With Delgado, Reyes and Beltran, the Cubs would be forced to use Marmol, not only as their primary set up guy, but as their "loogy" as well.

Anyways, it was great to get Santana to throw 130 pitches tonight. So something positive came of this game.

I found it funny that with all their supposed firepower the Mets could only score from freaky bloops/single/bunt/errors and weak lame ground balls that our infielders couldn't get too.

Awesome, lets keep seeing that weak contact for the rest of the season and postseason.

Meh, good teams win like that occasionally.

Soriano 3 for his last 22 and 0 for his last 10

I dont mind him being cold now, because he's gonna snap outta it around playoff time.

Not if his wife finds out about those pictures on deadspin/facebook... He might have a bit of a distraction about a pending divorce on his mind just in time for the playoffs.

So do bad ones.

bad teams do as well?!

I'm just saying sure they put up 6 runs but it just as easily could have been a shut out

Thats true, but any offense with Reyes, Beltran, Wright and Delgado is nothing to laugh at.

Man, was this a desaparation game for the Mets or what? Leaving in Santana to throw 125 pitches is a team that is desparate to win as many games as possible. To be honest, the Cubs should easily win the next two games to cancel out this game. And with Z and Harden, the Mets would be lucky to get another game in this series.

I'm with the rest of ya'll, in that i feels great not to be concern about a loss. The Cubs got decent success against Santana (making him throw 120 pitches, means they were working him, and imo that is considered a success) and now they can smoke both Pelfrey (or perez whoever is going) and Pedro the next two days, to which I will enjoy watching the NY media swallow the Mets alive.

Disappointed to see 3 walks from Gooz. Love the 3 Ks and and the 0s in the hits and runs column.

i think that's partly to be expected coming back from the surgery though, no? that's the risk they'll run if they use him in the playoffs.

Yeah, I love the fact that I'm not concerned about losing at all. Every morning when I wake up and catch my bearings, within like 30 seconds of waking up, my mind remembers the previous Cubs game. If the Cubs won last night, I'm in a decent mood, if the Cubs lost its blah. This morning, I started going into my automatic blah, before I realized that it doesn't matter.

I love when I don't care that the Cubs lost. A mostly forfeit lineup vs. the Mets ace and most of the runs scored off of guys who won't sniff the postseason roster. yawn
