101 thru 7. He'll pitch at least 8 and possibly go into the 9th. Good job by him to conserve pitches. 50 through 3, and then 50 more the next 4 innings.

Eh, this is probably going to be one of those games where "Cubs have advantage x over team y, because of reason z," X=superior bullpen, Y-Mets, Z=Mets have a terrible bullpen. You see the Mets bullpen suck against other team, then they're lights out against the Cubs.

What a confusing post

Damn...

We better beat the Pirates, and coming into this game I figured the Mets would win with Johan on the mound. But still does not mean I cant be disapointed :(

You may not know this, not being a Cub fan and all, but the Cubs recently came back from a 6-2 deficit in the 9th inning.

Johan will still probably be pitching.

86 pitches through 6. That'd be slightly short-sighted.

You have to excuse him, his thinking has been spoiled by Sabathia.

Plus, we have a lineup where Reed Johnson is hitting cleanup.

bob talking about how it's hard to hit homers off of Santana. the Cubs have one pitcher who's allowed more or even close to as many HR. Of course, if we take Howry out to 222 innings, he's got 36 home runs to Santana's 23

edit: and Lieber would have 80 or so

Santana like lead the league in homers given up last year or something like that.

EDIT: 33 last year

Couple of thoughts here...

It's good for the Cubs to lose this game in a way, because it hurts the Brewers

also, it's so pathetic that the Mets know they have to leave Santana in if they want to win this game, their pen is really that bad

We'll still take 3 of 4, it's nice not to care for once

Disappointed to see 3 walks from Gooz. Love the 3 Ks and and the 0s in the hits and runs column.

Twins are just teeing off on the White Sox, now 6-1. I told everyone the Sox would not dominate this series. The Metrodome is the house of horrors for the Sox, and the South Siders are not nearly the team on the road as they are at home.

These guys could definitely make an interesting first round opponent.

They beat us tonight on a bunch of flukey hits off our 6th starter, who before that pitched 4 dominating innings, and then teed off on a bunch of pitchers who would be in AAA right now.

Oh and our offense, who was sitting 3 regulars managed 7 hits and 2 walks off of one of the best 3 pitchers in the NL.

This after our number 5 starter had 5 RBIs off of them and pitched 7 innings to beat them last night

We would roll over the Mets. But then again, they might play a little better against us if they made the playoffs and they finally were able to take their hands off their necks.

This was the first complete outing I've seen from Johan this season and he is good but there is something missing from last couple of seasons. Those sliders didn't have as much bite as they did and it appears easier for hitters to pick them up earlier and stay away. His straight change was good however, but his overall velocity looks like its lacking from last year at this time. Edited by The Other 15%
