Gotta like Philly in this one, with Hamels against Parra.

Have we had more than a 6 or 6.5 game lead this season? I seem to remember 6.5 for a day or two. Sure would be nice to be sitting on a six game lead at the end of the night.

Hamels needs to pitch like he does vs the Cubs, and then the Brewers need to not have an Aramis Ramirez grand slam.

I miss the Cubs already.

I'm going to the White Sox game with work tonight. I'm not going to be rude and cheer for the Tigers, but I'm not going to sell out my roots and cheer for the White Sox. I'll probably be exceptionally bored or exceptionally drunk.

GO COLE!!

I guess you have to go for work and all.

I remember being offered Sox tickets for free on multiple occasions when I lived at home. The answer was always, "no thanks, I'd rather watch the Cubs on tv." Of course, the answer could have just as easily been, "no thanks, I'm going to stay home and poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick."

Go Cole...and go Tigers!

No Cubs on TV made it an easy call to go for the tailgating.

The Brewers historically hit Hamels well.

Last 2 starts

7 IP 5 ER (this year)

7 IP 4 ER (last year)

Figures. Maybe the fact that they're slumping right now will work in the Phils' favor.

Really, really sucks to have a weekend of no Cubs.

At least some of us have Bears (or football in general).... you don't even like that.

Sucks

I was going to go to a bar on Sunday to find the Bears game. If the Cubs play a DH I'll probably scrap that.

If the Cubs were going to get a series washed out, a weekend where I'm going to a Notre Dame football game and getting to actually watch the Panthers (a rare treat) was a good one for it to happen.

If we play a double header Sunday, can we even watch a Sunday night game? Wouldn't it be blacked out due to ESPN? I thought ESPN had exclusive rights to any Sunday night baseball games (which is why there is only one every week)...

You would be correct but I doubt they play a late game on Sunday. If a game is played at all, I'd put money on an afternoon game.

Len was saying day/night double header Sunday, then a day game Monday. But that was Len, so it's not official.

It'll be wierd not watching the Cubs tonight or tomorrow though.

We need to come up for a name for the Brewers when they are doing bad, sorta like the Cobs.

How about the Booers?

I was just looking over the projected playoff matchups and I realized that MLB is 1 team in each league away from having their dream postseason. Here is how it looks now

Playoff cities

BOSTON

LOS ANGELES

CHICAGO

TAMPA

NEW YORK

LOS ANGELES

CHICAGO

MILWAUKEE

Swap Tampa with New York and Milwaukee with Philly/Houston and you have the ultimate big market playoffs. Both leagues would have teams from the 3 biggest markets in the country, and then the AL would have one of the biggest fanbases make up the 4th team in their field, while the NL would have either a big fanbase (Philly) or the 4th largest city in the US be its 4th team.

Is Houston any bigger of a fan base than Milwaukee? The Astros and Brewers have similar fan bases, in that they have a lot of fans in their own cities, but not much outside, unlike the Cubs, Mets, Red Sox, Yankees who have fans all over the country.

I know I may get flamed for this, but I wouldn't mind seeing the Brewers win the WC. We can take them. We usually can hit Sheets pretty well, and we can deal with CC (hopefully.) Just keep Braun and Fatty in check and we're good.

I really don't hate the Brewers. Even though I'm in SE Wisconsin and am surrounded by Brewers fans, it doesn't really bother me that they're doing well this year.

Plus, I've never been to a playoff game and maybe I can get tickets to one at Miller Park.

Agreed on most points. I still think they'd be a harder matchup than Houston lets say, but I definitely don't hate the Milwaukee Brewers, and if the Cubs weren't going to be a playoff team, I'd want them to be. I wouldn't root for them to lets say win the World Series, because their fans would never let us hear the end of it.

Yeah, I always liked the Brewers a little until they, you know, became good. Now I don't hate them, but I wouldn't mind seeing them in the playoffs. I live in a place where I don't have to face annoying fans of other teams (I live in NC, no one hear talks much about baseball), so maybe that's why I don't really totally despise other teams (except of course the Cards http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

As the Phillies and Diamondbacks found out last October, theres nothing more dangerous than a team who esentially rose from nowhere toward the end of the season and streaked themselves into the playoffs.
