Yeah, he's been out for a long time and the Phillies haven't taken much advantage. His last game was August 2nd, when he blew a save and lost. Philly was 1.5 up then, and are 1.5 down now.

Yeah, I think the bigger part of the story is that he's likely going to be out all of next year.

Yeah, that's gonna hurt.

How old is he? Does he make a comeback or just pack it in and retire? Guy has to be in his mid-30's I'd guess.

He's 37. I think his days as an elite closer are pretty much done.

KRod destination?

It seems pretty obvious to me that Minaya will go all out after him.

And the Mets can actually semi-afford a $15 mil a year closer. It'd still be dumb, but not nearly as much for a near-unlimited payroll team such as the Mets.

He should pack it in. At that age, is it really worth it to come back for a year, maybe two, with possible limited effectiveness?

Retire and enjoy the rest of your life, Billy.

He'd be able to enjoy the rest of his life more if he didn't retire, and kept taking the Mets $10.5m next year.
