Z didn't take an MRI because he didn't have time - he went to see a dentist. (A member of the Taiwan Cubs fan forum posted this info. I just re-posted it here).

Let's hope for the best! Let's go, Cubbies!

Great source, there.

Granted, it would make sense, but that's exactly why someone would make that up.

Not your fault, though. Welcome to the forum!

Bruce's take.

Bruce Miles / The Daily Herald[/url]"].... Last night, Big Z left after 5 innings "not feeling well," according to Lou. Did Big Z have a tummy ache or what? No, Lou said, his arm was hurting. So today, Z went to the doctor, but he declined to undergo an MRI until tomorrow. Who knows what that'll turn up? And who knows why Z didn't just have the MRI and get it over with? What the Cubs need to do is get Hendry, Lou, Harden and Z in one room at the same time so they all can tell the same story. That way, Harden won't say he's fine, Lou won't say he's having "discomfort" and Hendry won't get testy with guys like me simply for trying to get the truth to you, the Cubs fan....

I'll admit that my curiosity is piqued, though, wenya. How did this person claim to know that?

Becuase we all hope that he will be alright. By the way, there are cubs' fans in Taiwan who have watched the Cubs for 5 years or longer and are still watching and caring about the Cubs, althrough many of them even haven't had a chance to come see a Cubs' game in person. They watch them on MLB.TV.

I'm confused. So those people are just guessing it was a dentist appointment?

I read on another message board that Z skipped the MRI because he feels fine. He had the MRI earlier in the year and he says theres nothing wrong it was just general soreness. But, the Cubs want to make sure he's perfectly fine and want him at the MRI tommorrow.

This is according to Jesse Rogers? Is that a radio guy or?

Either way that would be a good thing if Z, thinks its just general soreness.

Just googled him, I guess he's on the score.

According to Jesse Rogers, Zambrano doesn't feel like there's anything wrong with his arm and he will be fine with some rest. I guess he went and saw the doctor today, and didn't wanna have the MRI because he didn't feel he needed to since he feels the same he did in June(and had one in June). But the Cubs want him to sure there's nothing, so their making him take another MRI tomorrow.

He's a good poster and wouldnt make anything up. I guess Rogers was at the game tonight, I wonder who he got his info from.

IF that is true (huge IF), this will be the 3rd or 4th huge injury bullet we've dodged this year... two each for Aramis and Z....

But we'll see.

But we'll see.

If we find out it's just the dead arm and he'll be fine with some rest, it will feel like the 5 game losing streak never happened.

Again, I don't care what it is and how much of the regular season he misses. I just want him back and at full strength for the playoffs.

I feel exactly the same way. I would hope just about everyone here does.

So now the Cubs are baseballs version of the Patriots?

From espn.com-

ESPN 1000 Chicago reported late Wednesday night that Zambrano missed the MRI appointment to attend to a family matter.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3566853

Also, Tim Kurkjian was on Mike and Mike just now and he was beng pretty negative. It sounded like he was just speculating, but he said that Zambrano only missing a couple weeks and being ready for the playoffs is "unlikely" and that it doesn't look good.

They said on the Score 670 that Big Z didn't want to take the injection the MRI requires because it would shelve him for two starts. Does an injection from an MRI cause stiffness or discomfort? Supposedly the treatment needs time to wear off for 10 days or so.

Either way, Zambrano said he thinks it's the same problem he had back in July and he thinks rest will do the trick again, but this didn't seem to do it last time. I just wish he would get the test done so the medical staff can know for sure. The best case scenario would be rest until the last week, then maybe a spot start of a few innings the last week, and have him ready to start game 3 of the NLDS.

When did they say that? Just now?

So....

- He missed it because it didn't think he needed it (the score)

- He missed it because of a family matter (ESPN)

- He missed it because he didn't want the injection (different guy from the score)

Number 2 seems most likely...but number 3 seems pretty Zambrano-esque.

Yeah I'm listening to the Score and whoever is talking is saying he doesn't want the Arthrogram. If it's true that he doesn't want it because he's miss a couple starts, that sounds like a good sign in that it probably means he wasn't in a lot of pain or anything and that he thinks it's nothing season-threatening.

The last story on 670, yes just now, about Z not wanting to not have the test because he would miss two starts due to the injection for the MRI. They have changed their story since last night so who knows. But I could definitely see Zambrano being stubborn about the whole thing. He wants to rest and be ready in a couple of weeks in his mind, but the Cubs need to know if it's something more serious. Zambrano will lose this pissing match and probably get the test done today I would think.

Does it matter what Z thinks? What Zambrano thinks doesn't give me much comfort at this point. If he feels like it's the same thing from July then that's probably good news. The MRI will settle the issue. Like I said, best case he strained his shoulder and needs some time off. SHUT HIM DOWN. He can come back the last series and pitch a few innings to see how he feels, and get ready for game 3 of the NLDS.

Now they're talking on the Score about how Z just doesn't want to know what's wrong? What the hell? They need to make up their minds.

The Cubs need to save Zambrano from himself. There's no way the organization trots him back out there without knowing if he's ok for sure. Get the test done and then we all will know for sure. The sooner the Cubs and Z know, the sooner they can start planning their strategy. Zambrano is being a little silly about this.
