Colin Cowherd was "I told you so-ing" yesterday about his theory that the Cubs will 'find a way to lose'. I'd love to have his crap played back to him on his show if they go on to win.

And I heard Timmy on Mike and Mike and agree that he was gloom and doom with no basis, just because it's the Cubs.

It's an AP story. None of those sites typically write the "news" stories themselves. They just post up the Associated Press stories. They sometimes add their own stuff later on, but for most run of the mill stories they don't.

Am I crazy or was there a post about the doom and gloom article by a guy named Cubsin08 or something right before mine...

SI.com's headline:

"Bad News Cubs: Zambrano has shoulder injury"

Then the sub-headline:

"MRI confirms rotator cuff problems for Cubs' Zambrano"

Are you kidding me??

I am going to write an article and give it to SI.com titled "Bad news fans of baseball: all your pitchers have shoulder injuries" with the subheadline "Because that's what tendinitis is you morons"

This is pretty bad. It's like some 14-year old Cardinal fan is writing these headlines.

Reeling? LOL, the team has lost 5 games in a row for the first time all year, yet they still have a 4.5 games lead because the brewers have also been swept, but they are reeling. Whatever.

If the Cubs only go .500 this month, the Phillies can't lose 3 games! They are going to the playoffs people. Hell, the Cubs are off tonight and the onous is on the Brewers and Phillies to win because the magic number reduces if they don't.

These writers tick me off.

No, no that was fake. The reaction by 98navigator is funny.

It's unbelievable how much bad sports radio I will listen to just because it's sports radio. He is a one trick pony (makes a polarizing statement to attract calls / listeners), defends every one of his points with a faulty analogy, and repeats his little thoughts ('it's the hall of fame, not the hall of very good') over and over.

Yet, since it is sports, I listen.

Carlos Zambrano (10 DXL)

The Big Z isn't feeling good, and even Lou Piniella, just days after insisting that Zambrano was fine, is admitting that something is wrong. After five innings of bad baseball, the Cubs are sending Zambrano to see the team orthopedist and will likely be shutting him down. This can be hard to manage at this time of year; if Zambrano is shut down for two weeks, he'll have to come back ready to go in order to get in a couple of starts before the playoffs. Would the Cubs be willing to put Zambrano out there in the Division Series without at least one good regular season start? Zambrano is clearly the ace of this staff, so this isn't exactly an Aaron Cook situation. The most worrisome aspects of Zambrano's start were the arm angle and the quick drop in velocity. By the third inning, he was down from 93 to 90, and by the fourth and fifth he was exerting more effort just to stay in the 90 range. The extra time off might have made him stronger in the early going, but it didn't last time out. The Cubs are going to have to make some some tough decisions soon, but they'll be waiting for word from the doctors first. I don't anticipate good news, and there is late word that Zambrano refused to have an MRI Wednesday, perhaps anticipating a visit elsewhere.

He seems pessimistic, but also gave him the time table of 10 days (isn't that what DXL means)

Where did Will Carroll get his velocity readings from?
