I'm assuming that all first pitches will be at about 9:45 eastern time per usual ;)

At least it'll be the weekend games this time.

I need at least 45 minutes of Bartman/Goat/Black Cat footage before every game

I'm standing up at a wedding that will be held in New Orleans. The rehearsal dinner is Fri., Oct. 17. The wedding is Sat., Oct. 18. The groom is from Chicago and is a Cubs fan, as are most of his extended family that will be there. I know two people who will be praying for a short series if the Cubs make the NLCS.

Isn't there something where the team with the best record gets to choose which day they begin the NLDS on? Is the schedule in the original absolute?

I think that's only in the AL.

Really? That would be a strange rule to put in place if so.

I thought they put it in place last year and that the choice would alternate between NL and AL.

Just got an email from cubs.com which sent me to a link to register for a chance for getting postseason tickets. Sounds like they are doing things differently this year and having a random drawing for tickets instead of the VWR. :banghead:

Sounds like those selected in the random drawing will be notified on Monday Sept. 22nd and they will have the opportunity to purchase tickets the following day.

That sucks. I think they put limits in place based on your name, address, etc. so you can't register with multiple accounts. At least the Cards did something like that when they sold WS tickets a couple years ago.

Edited to add: I just got the same email. If you're selected, you can only purchase a total of two tickets for one game. This is [expletive].

This is terrible news. 2 tickets max to one game for the series you are chosen for.

I wonder if they cancel both entries if say I signup with my info, but my wife signs up as well with her own info but same mailing address etc?

bring back the VWR!

awwwww, now you guys can't buy 20 tickets and sell 16 of them at 10x face value on StubHub :-({|=

haha for a lot of people, that is the only way to afford playoff tickets to later rounds if they do happen.

You shouldn't have a problem with that. Now if you filled it out for you and used twiggy@aol.com and filled it out for her and used twiggy@yahoo.com you might get it DQed.

Thats correct. This year it is the NL's turn. The Cubs will get to pick which series they want.

Huge advantage deciding which off-days they get. Longer spread out series or the quicker series in shorter days.

MLB says otherwise.

I just saw that.

The club with the best record in the American League will have the right to decide whether it will play in the seven-day or eight-day Division Series (i.e., whether it will start its Division Series on Wednesday, Oct. 1 or Thursday, Oct. 2). The AL club with the best record will make its selection no later than one hour following the completion of any game that finalizes which club will have the best record in the regular season or finalizes the matchups in the Division Series, whichever is later.

And here is why......lame.......

That means the ALDS will be split, with one starting on the first day of the postseason, with the other starting the next day. Beginning last year, the Commissioner awarded the team with the best record in the All-Star Game-winning league the opportunity to choose whether it wants to play the eight-day ALDS (opening on Wednesday, Oct. 1 this year), or a seven-day ALDS (beginning on Thursday, Oct. 2).

The AL club that finishes the regular season with the best record must make its selection of a playoff starting date within an hour after completing either the game that determines which team will finish with the best regular-season record or the game that determines the matchups in the Division Series -- whichever comes later.

It's based on Bud's stupid idea of the ASG deciding WS HFA... Scrap that and make the HFA depend solely on the best record overall.

I noticed today that StubHub has our potential home World Series games all scheduled for 1pm. I know that the Cubs can't play home night games, but I thought that was only for the regular season. I can't imagine there would seriously be day games in the World Series.
