Seriously, Cards, crush Parra.

Last night I thought I was rooting for the Cards. But when Braun hit that homer I just started laughing at the Cards' misfortune, almost reflexively.

None of that tonight. I'm rooting for the Birds on the Bat 100%. I think. :?

So since we're all rooting for the Cards tonight, I have this strange feeling that reverse pixie dust will be in effect and Wainright's healed finger will just fly off his hand as he throws a curveball.

Or not, Cards win 7-2. We lead by 6 at the end of the day.

I will be cheering for the most benefit to our club (not cheering for the Cardinals per say). Since the Cardinals AND Mets would have to lose to change our magic number in that race, I'll be cheering for the Brewers to lose.

Wainwright's gonna dominate. I can feel it in my bones.

Last time he pitched was the 18-run, 26-hit effort.

Repeat, please.

Lineups from Bernie Miklasz of the Post-Dispatch - this will make you cry if you were hoping for the magic number to drop:

Stavinoha 7

Wainwright 1

Lopez 4

Weeks 4

Hardy 6

Braun 7

Fielder 3

Hart 9

I can't believe LaRussa is continuing with the pitcher hitting 8th. Is it really helping?

Is it really hurting?

It's probably the right thing to do. For whatever reason, the lineup tools, IIRC, tend to put the pitcher spot 8th in the ideal lineups. But I might be remembering wrong.

I think the Cards are going to get rolled, but I hope you're right.

Don't go with what you think. That'll do no good. You've got to get into the good vibes, man. GOTTA OVERRIDE LOGIC WITH EMOTION.

......because logically, I think you're right Cards will get rolled

Who the hell is Stavinoha?

He's the latest in the Cardinals' "Super Soldier" program, their genetic engineering intiative to produce an army of defensively-challenged first baseman/outfielder/DH types.

This was their first subject, using Dave Duncan's DNA as the base. As you can see, it has since experienced quite a bit of clonal degeneration, as the process was imperfect.

Their second two efforts have been marginally more successful, at least as far as the degeneration goes, but between the two of them they're hitting about .200, so the program is still searching for its first perfect subject.

Of course. The initiative is ongoing, based on La Russa's research on steroids and human hormones that he carried out in Oakland.

Looks like this guy's got the degeneration going too, though...

Probably not. I don't even know. I just figured it would be some gimmicky thing the Crew & Cards did for the first couple months and then go back to normal. Yost did, LaRussa didn't.

I'm not bothered by it or anything. Just suprised it has continued.
