I going to need to have an acid hot show after this but:

An acid hot show....yeah, I don't want to know more.

If The Cubs win both of their games, Id be OK with wither the Brewers or Cards sweeping this 2 game set. If the Brewers win, the Cards are pushed to 10 games back, essentially making this a 2 team race. If the Cards win both, the Brewers end up 7 back, which is quite comfortable. Of course, The Cubs have to win both games.

It's already a 2 team race.

Curses. I just finished logging in to post that.

Color me exceptionally paranoid in this regard, but I'm still worried about the Cards. Can't help myself. That said, obviously, I will be rooting for them tonight.

But let's just win and not really have to worry about it.

The Cardinals have about 0.5% chance of catching the Cubs.

Literally.

The Cardinals are the worst team of the 3 and the farthest back. There's no reason to worry about them.

Magic numbers are reduced no matter who wins (unless, of course, Philly overtakes St Loius for the wild card lead). So...Go Cards!

You mean the leading runner up to the wild card.

I mean "acid hot shower."

And now it's fixed...

I still don't particularly want the Cardinals to win these games. I won't shed tears if they do, though.

Is the hatred really that strong?

It's the same completely irrational thing that makes me want to not see the White Sox if we make it to the World Series. On paper, I know full well that the Cardinals and White Sox would be the best matchups in our favor we could hope for, but I still fear what happened the last time each of those clubs made the postseason.

I know I'm wrong for thinking this.

Well the Cardinals aren't making the playoffs even with the 2 game sweep so who cares?

I'm along with you for most of this. Part of me really wants the Cards to win the WC to set up the possibility of a Cubs-Cards NLCS. However, the rest of me doesn't want the Cards to get anywhere near that far on the off chance that they might win. Same with the Sox.

But still, looking at this series, even with my irrational fear of the Cardinals, I am rooting for them to win the next two nights.

Would the Sox be the best matchup for us in a potential World Series?

I'm not saying they wouldn't, I just haven't thought about it enough to agree/disagree. They have some serious mashers, a solid yet not dominant starting staff and a good bullpen (with Linebrink)

I guess there are those who think the Angels would be a better matchup for us. I can see either. I can maybe even see the Rays despite this year's results.

I'd really enjoy an AL playoffs of the White Sox, Twins, Rays and Angels. Some fresh faces in a constant sea of Boston and New York media darlings.

Plus, I think Boston is the most dangerous team in the AL.
