I'm not assuming we are going to be in these, but just in case, is there any way to determine the dates? I have to plan a trip during the week of Oct 7 for two days and obviously want to avoid a game.

according to wiki, the team with the best record in the NL gets to choose whether they want Game 1 to be October 1st or 2nd. Game 5 will be Oct. 7th.

Hmm...I wonder if it'd hurt Carlos too bad to start Game 2 while we started Harden in Game 1 on the 1st so we could start him in a potential Game 5 on the 7th...

And then Lou can take him out after 85 pitches in a tie ballgame to save him for a game that doesn't even exist at the time!

I think this is so disingenuous. He took him out, for probably the best reliever in the game at the time who had been absolutely lights out dominant. It's not like he took him out to put in Antonio Alfonseca. Marmol had gotten the job done all year.

As stated in another thread, it appears (according to Wikipedia, not always the best source, but also correlating with people's memories) the #1 seed in the NL will have the choice of starting either Wednesday or Thursday.

If we chose to go Wednesday, each team's No. 1 and No. 2 could pitch two games on normal rest.
