I geniuinely mean no offense here, but did you pick Loria for comparison simply because he was the worst owner you could think of? Because what possible parallel could there be otherwise?

Sorry, I believe that is how some owners view Cuban...similar type.

Cuban's got a thing for taking really long showers.

"Our locker room is pretty awesome," joked Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster on Wednesday during a charity celebrity bowling event that Cuban attended. "We get to see everybody naked, and hang out and have a good time."

Dempster needs to have daily quotes. He is great.

What do Cuban and Loria have to do with each other outside of owning sports franchises?

See my previous post. Sorry walking on eggshells here trying not to offend or say to wrong thing while making my point. Kind of makes me sorry to have revealed my background in the game.

What?

None of this is making any sense. You said it's your opinion that you think owners view Cuban as a Loria-type. What does that have to do with anything besides your own theory? It doesn't seem based on anything.

She said she's basing it on what she's heard other owners think of him.

None of it makes any sense to me, particularly the comparison.

I still don't get it though. Loria is famous for low payrolls and throwing a fire-sale seemingly every time the Marlins accomplish anything. Going by what Cuban has done with the Mavericks, what possible connection is there?

The connection is that RedIvyCub is grasping at straws.

Its pretty obvious.

They both have 5 letters in their last name.

I don't mean to attack here but I think I've worked out an analogy.

Why would owners view Cuban as similar to Loria?

Why are you walking on eggshells?

It's always a good idea not to offend people when saying something. I don't understand what it has to do with your background in the game.

I'm not quite sure if Cuban would be that good for the Cubs...see Betty White from the Golden Girls.

hahahaha, i was thinking more along the lines of mona from who's the boss but this works as well

It seems that time and time again, you've posted here only to say "oops, I almost said too much" or "I WISH I could tell you, but I used to work for the Cubs".

First of all, no one knows your real name -- you're posting under an internet alias that is essentially anonymous.

Secondly, even if current Cubs front office officials DID track your IP address, hunt you down, and find out it was you, who cares?

And lastly, stop teasing the board with your supposed knowledge. If you know something, awesome; if you're just pulling things out of your behind, let us know first. If you were talking about trades instead of owners you probably would have been banned by now.

anyone can edit a "wiki" page.
As evidenced earlier this year when somebody edited Kerry Wood's page to include a sham closer reference (which I think has since been removed).

An old New York Times article about Cuban and his "cutting edge" winval statistical models from from 2003.

I don't see he and Hendry seeing eye to eye on much.

Dare I say ... could Cuban and his pocketbook and a common philosophy entice Beane to join in as GM/President of Baseball Operations?

i can really identify with cuban. after all, i was once the owner of something, too.

I, too, once owned something.

We must have much in common, Mr. Loria.

All right, let's turn the argument around: given your background, whom would you prefer to be the next owner of the Cubs, and why?
