Fair enough it's the first time we've seen him but why do we always make new pitchers look so good by swinging at utter crap? it has been an annoying cub habbit for quite a while. If i ever get my lazy 30yr old ass to the majors i want to debut against the cubs!!

Hopefully Marquis can hold them here, and the offense can rack up some patience. I don't think the Cubs would be able to come back from a 5-0 deficit or anything.

Alright, knock that crap off now.

These are the Pirates. The substantially weakened Pirates that make this week's Brewers look like the 1927 Yankees in comparison.

Win this game. There is no excuse not to. None at all.

Any given day....especially when Marquis is on the mound.

This is shaping up to be the classic let down game following the Brewer series.

I think it's shaping up to be the classic Cubs fall behind early but ultimately win game.

I sure hope so.

man I had a bad feeling about a letdown.

To be fair, the vast majority of our runs this week have come 6th inning and later.

true, but I wonder how far behind we will be by then with Marquis toeing the slab.

A fair point, but in that case I don't know if that's a letdown as much as a sucky pitcher.

I think Marquis pitching is synonymous with letdown.

Kinda sucks when you get the pitching performances that we've gotten our last 4 games and then have Marquis pitch anything but brilliant.

No matter what the context, two runs should not beat this Cubs team. As long as Marquis can keep getting those at-em balls, the Cubs should be able to win the game.

I still get the feeling we win, but if we cant, Id rather Marquis be shelled for like 8 runs in 5 innings than lose 3-1 so Lou finally decides he has no buisness in the rotation for a teams hoping to win the World Series.

If we were against Snell or Maholm, Id say we can easliy scratch out 3-4 runs if Marquis can hold them down, but when were facing a no name pitcher in his first start, at least in the NL, the Cubs are often baffled.
