Angels first baseman Casey Kotchman was pulled off the field during pregame warmups this afternoon at Fenway Park. And there are strong indications he is about to be traded to the Braves for Mark Teixeira, according to a source with knowledge of those discussions. Details are still being finalized, and additional, lesser names are expected to be involved. But Kotchman for Teixeira is the core of this deal.

The latest: A second source with knowledge of these discussions says the Braves will get Kotchman, plus a second lesser name, for Teixeira in a 2-for-1 deal.

ESPN's Keith Law reports that the Angels have acquired Casey Kotchman and Stephen Marek from the Braves for Mark Teixeira.

Kotchman has reportedly been pulled off the field after going out to warm up for Tuesday's game. The Angels get a nice upgrade here, but they're giving up a 25-year-old with room to improve for just two months of an at least somewhat overrated first baseman. Marek was also one of their top prospects. A move to the pen this year has him looking like a potential closer.

Just announced on ESPN. This would be a really good deal for Anaheim.

So, basically Salty for Kotchmann/Marek.

Salty? Don't you mean Teixeira?

Last years trade. Though the braves gave up a lot more than just Salty.

The Braves had traded Salty to get Teixeira last year at the deadline, and now they're trading Tex

D'OH! I forgot about that.

I know the Angels "don't trade prospects" but I can't believe the Braves didn't at least get Adenhart or Walden.

This was probably the best deal the Braves could get at this point. Not many of the contenders were looking to upgrade at 1b, so it was accept this deal or the one with the Diamondbacks.

The Braves felt like Kochman was more value to them next year than the two draft picks. This is an excellent deal for the Angels.

Worst for the Braves because along with Salty they sent Alvis Andrus, Neftali Perez, and Matt Harrison.

kiss off the Braves this year, they are DONE

Be careful, it's pretty windy out on that limb.

the Braves are 7.5 games back with 3 very good teams ahead of them. Hudsons done for the season, Chippers back to the DL, and now Tex is gone. I think its pretty safe to say they're done.

Neftali Feliz. And I believe it's Elvis, not Alvis.
