So if this is your outlook, why are you a Cubs fan? Actually, why do you root for any teams in general? Because coming into the season, there's a really, really good chance your team isn't going to win the championship which, according to you, means you'll be disappointed.

 

Human beings aren't rational by nature. We are strongly motivated by emotions such as hope and fear, moreso than we should be.

 

The hope of a non-disappointing season and the fear of abandoning the team right before they finally don't disappoint outweighs any rational assessment of the utility of being a fan.

 

And...ballgame.

Well, I enjoyed sole possession of first place.

 

They'll be a few games into second after the Milwaukee series. The Brewers are on freakin' fire right now, and the Cubs are playing like.... well, the Cubs.

The Brewers haven't really been playing all that great the last few games. Their hot streak is starting to end. Not saying they are going to go into a nose dive or anything, but they aren't going to win every game from now on. I feel pretty confident overall that we at least split the series in Milwaukee.

 

CC vs. Lilly - Probably CC

Zambrano vs. Sheets - Sheets hasn't been at the top of his game lately, but its a tossup

Dempster vs. Parra - Another toss up, Cubs should win one of these 2 aforementioned games

Harden vs. Suppan - Probably Harden

Why is it so hard to accept that people get frusterated and vent? In the heat of a close loss, its hard to say we'll get em tommorow, espcially when you have the hottest team on the planet chasing you, and they're about to play a home series againt one of the worst?
