104 soapdropping pitches for Looper through 5. At least he avoided further damage. 1-0 going into the bottom of the 5th

Meanwhile Sabathia's only thrown 52. He's on pace for another complete game.

fat chance. Could CC win the nl cy young award?

Ok first of all: No, he won't win the NL Cy

Second of all, why would you even write "fat" and "CC" in the same post? Are you asking for a joke?

Yost is stupid and he ruins pitchers, if you haven't figured that out yet, ask Yovanni Gallardo.

He's pitched 3 games in the NL. You're not serious with that question, are you?

Its not completely out of the realm. Sutcliffe won it by going 16-1 after he was traded from Cleveland.

If Sabathia goes like 13-2 with a 1.50 ERA and the Brewers make the playoffs, the voters could give it to him. While Sheets, Z, Lincecum, Dempster, etc have been very good, they haven't been completely dominant.

I don't see what Yost had to do with Gallardo taking a wrong angle while covering first base and crashing into Reed Johnson. I guess you could argue that it was Ned's fault he kept him in the game after that, but the ACL was torn on the play at first, and once it's torn it can't be torn any worse. I'll say the Brewers are pretty lucky that Yo didn't hurt his arm while compensating for his knee, though.

With that said, I would be more worried about Sabathia throwing so many complete games if he pitch counts were crazy high, but for the most part they haven't been. In his debut against Colorado he threw 97 pitches in 5 innings. The game against Cincinnati was the only game with a high pitch count -- he threw 122. Against the Giants he threw 110 in 9 innings. Last night in St. Louis he only threw 106. As long as he stays around 100 pitches every start, I won't be too worried.

The Cy Young thing is stretching it, though. It only started because ESPN fantasy geek Eric Karabell was on a Milwaukee radio station and mentioned (unsolicited) that he thought Sabathia would win the NL Cy Young.

Sutcliffe won the NL Cy Young award in 1984 after a deadline trade.

Is this actually true?

If Yost pulls Gallardo out of the game after he gets hurt, I'm not sure he's out for the year.

You should be sure. Pitching another 1.2 IP is really, really stupid on Yost's part, but Gallardo was cooked even if he came out immediately(see Patterson, Corey).

As for Yost's usage, I'd think he'd take note of Sabathia's post season performance after throwing 50 more innings than the previous season. He's on pace to throw more than 230 innings again. He's also run Sheets over 120 IP several times in the last couple months.

EDIT: Sabathia and Sheets are 1-2 in PAP this year. Zambrano and Dempster are 7th and 10th respectively.

No way can you blame Yost for Gallardo. Yost should never have put him back but it was obvious the damage was done when he tried to avoid fatso. If anyone is to blame for losing Gallardo, it is Fielder.

Actually, had Yo just ran parellel to the base at the end, he would have never had to jump over Johnson, thus avoiding all injury. To me, the blame lies completely on Yovanni for taking a bad route.
