I hope that his DL stint is the reason for the Cubs offensive struggles. He's been gone for 6 months and we still hold the lead. If he can spark the Cubs offense again, that would be great for the second half of the season.

If it gets us turned around, fine... but at the same time, to think one man can mean so much to a team/season.

Good thing it was just 6 weeks and not a season-ending injury!

One man doesn't mean so much. This is still the highest scoring offense in the NL and Soriano has only played in half the games, so they've reached that number 1 ranking without him.

I'm guessing Hoff goes down, then Hart when Eyre returns.

I think Hart will be gone before Eyre comes back, and Wuertz will come back up, and Hart will be given the Cliff Bartosh/Billy Petrick/Ryan O'Mally treatment and never be seen or heard from again. Either that or end up a 27 game winner for the Cardinals.

So that puts Fontenot back on the bench eh? He was one of few guys hitting. I wonder if Derosa will be splitting time with Fontenot.

This is actually a nice problem to have. We know how well Fontenot has hit right-handers, but DeRosa's been solid against right-handers for the past two seasons.

I think against RH pitching, we need to ride Fontenot's hot streak. History has shown he can't keep it up, but we should at least milk it for as much as we can.

Could there have been a less exciting time for Soriano to come off the DL? Seriously if he came back right after the All Star break, we would all be saying "YAY SORI'S BACK!" but right now its just so down in here.

Its not that hes the reason for the troubles. He had nothing to do with Ramirez, Lee, and Soto taking a vacation at once. Its just that this is our time of need, and it will be nice to have him back.

Even if he doesn't come out swinging all that well, at the very least this brings some level of normalcy back to the lineup. We can stop platooning guys in LF and let them get back to their more natural positions.

I hope that hamstring is fully healed too. I can't even remember the last time the Cubs stole a base. (That might be the alcohol playing with my memory though)

I guess it has become official according to Cubs.com press release. Soriano and Eyre up. Hoffpauir and Hart down.

Oh yes dear God thank you.

Yeah i guess they did finally notice how bad Hart has pitched. And i hope Eyre is fully healthy and is not being forced back early (i don't see why they would bring him back early but im just saying..).

Unless Len was just lying, we're about .500 without Soriano in the lineup. I think we can hold our own for a bit when Fonz is out, but then it starts to go downhill. We need his hot streaks to make it more difficult on opposing pitchers.

ive heard a ton of interviews with and regarding hart here in DSM, and they all lead me to believe that he has been a starter his entire career and he is simply not comfortable in a relief role at this point. im fine with that for now, let him pitch every five days, because i think he has a future in our rotation.
