There's probably no way he gets released now with Sept callups and all but let's hope he doesn't make the playoff roster..

He will and Lou will use him in at least one close playoff game

I guarantee this

Theres only 1 guy left who trusts Howry, and unfortunately, it's the guy who decides if and when he should pitch.

But hey, at least he stays cool as a cucumber when hes giving up runs in bunches, so that counts for something, right?

I'd rather have Marquis on the playoff roster instead of Howry.

I honestly think he'd be as a reliever. The guy is typically good for 2-4 innings per game, and then blows up in one inning. As a reliever, he might be less likely to reach the point where he blows up, and if/when he does struggle, the manager should be more willing, and more prepared to have a replacement ready.

Then again, since nearly all relievers are failed starters, that's not much of a stretch. And like most of them, he'd probably be inconsistent, if not from appearance to appearance, then from year to year.

I'd bet Howry doesn't get into a playoff game within 3 runs of winning or losing unless it's the 13th or later.

I don't see why anyone thinks yesterday's outing will change Lou's use of Howry. People have been saying "this is the outing that will convince Lou that Howry sucks" after just about every game he's appeared in. He's still used in tight games and crucial situations. It's not going to stop.

I have no problem with Marquis as a long relief guy.

I think Lou's going to use 3 or 4 relievers for the entire postseason.

I think he had been pitching better so I'm not so critical of him coming in but....my granny goodness how did Lou let him face so many batters. The first batter tripled -somebody should have been up - next guy gets a hit - if the guy in the bullpen is not ready he faces 1 more batter MAX. 5 batters is unfathomable. I was screaming at the TV as he was delivering the pitch with the bases loaded. Could Lou really have thought he was going to get out of it, or even get an out, at that point?
