All you can do is laugh and just realize that come September, these frauds will be dust in the wind.

Never underestimate the power of the magic Cardinals pixie dust. I wouldn't at all be shocked to see the Cards right in the thick of things all season.

Yes, they SHOULD fall off, but will they?

Haha...

On the postgame wrapup Vasgersian just said "The Triple-A Portland Beavers were just totally outclassed this weekend in St. Louis."

I doubt that will go over real well.

Ok seriously, regardless of the fact that they are playing the Giants right now... how do the Cardinals keep winning? Their team looks horrible on paper and has looked horrible against the Cubs, yet somehow they can't lose.

Padres. Brewers are playing the Giants.

This pixie dust crap got old a long time ago.

I might as well start bracing myself for the inevitable Cards sweep of the Brewers next, huh? :banghead:

I say cards win first two and Sheets, Sabathia win for a series split.

The way I look at it is this....if the Cubs take of business, then let the Cards worry about catching us, instead of the Cubs worrying about putting distance between them and the Cards/Brewers.

I know it sucks, that the Cards have what, 3 legit Major Leaguers on that roster and they are 10 games over .500. Just remember the Cubs ARE the better team and once Soriano get healthy, we will run away with the division.

That would be 14 over.

This was an encouraging thought in May. By late July, it's just worrisome.

Well, if your team plays like crap, I'd much rather have an announcer who says so, rather than one who thinks the fans are idiots and tries to sugarcoat everything.

This is why I will forever remain on the side of Chip Caray and Steve Stone during that whole 2004 mess.

The Yankees have proven time and again that its not 'names' that win, or have a right to win. Good ballplayers playing as a team with the drive to do their best at every moment is a powerful winning combination. The pixey dust and luck references just sounds like someone doesnt understand the game very well.

Not if you believe your team is the best team in the division. Teams like the Cards don't last long. Eventually they will sink, the Cubs just need to stay above the Cards.

Best way to do it.

Although I'd like to see Sheets and Sabathia knocked around a little bit, so let the Brewers win the first two and then those two take it on the chin in games 3 and 4.

And the Cubs win their next 4 and gain 2 games on each, of course.

This is a franchise that won the World Series a mere two years ago with 83 regular season wins. They weren't very good then, either. And we kept saying all year that they were terrible and wouldn't do anything and they'd fall off.

And they never did.

The Cardinals are the exception to the rule. The team bus could crash, forcing every player to the DL, and they could call up their AAA team and a few local drunks, as well as the batboy and clubhouse attendant, and would probably still keep winning.

I turned off my MLBTV after Glaus gave STL the lead. Of course SD tied it only to let Aaron Miles hit a walk-off grand slam. This is the Cardinals. These things happen to them.

Agreed.

Vasgersian just earned a few more points in my book. Awesome.

GMAB! The Padres HANDED the Cardinals three straight wins in the 4 game set. That has NOTHING to do with them being a good team.

I've never liked Vasgersian nearly as much as everyone else does, but I always feel bad for announcers stuck calling games for horrible teams. I enjoy the snark here and there.

 Never mind. The Padres handed it to them. I must have missed that part.

You must have missed the last 3 games at the very least. They'll be coming to Wrigley soon enough to get their asses handed to them and to let them know exactly where they stand in this divsion.
