Jason Michaels can have sex with my hypothetical girlfriend.

Michaels also started the 9th inning rally with a walk - sure, he deserves a go with my hypothetical gf too.

i would still like to know why the hell chavez is in the game for laroche

Probably the same reason Michaels is in the game for Nady.

John Russell: master of the tactical retreat.

That was a crazy game and stuff, but the Pirates announcers need to calm down. Seriously.

i live in a pittsburgh market... i'm pretty sure they've been silent for the past 10 years just to dump it all into this game. usually they're as quiet as hawk when the white sox are losing.

WOW. Just Wow

For all the brewers fans, cardinals fans, and sox fans who were making fun of the Cubs bullpen, on the various message boards I visited today, I'm glad they all got an up close look at their own bullpen situations. Only the sox survived but it took a miraculous play to do so.

5.5 games up!

It's always crazy to see one of those charts go from the 99th percentile in one direction all the way over to the other side.

Nutty!

The Cards will likely be crushed emotionally by that loss tonight and will unravel from this point forward, just as the Cubs did after the Ankiel game-winner last Saturday.

Haha watch the replay of the walkoff by Michaels on gameday. What the hell are the announcers even saying? Something about Mrs. McDavis?

It's like some sort of unholy mutated combination of Vin Scully and Suzyn Waldman with lots more shouting and none of the actual talent of the former.

I think my favorite part of the replay is that they barely show any emotion at all until it's over the fence 3 seconds, and then it's instant pandemonium.

I'm almost glad this all happened to the Cub rivals tonight, so that Cub fans can see that the Cub bullpen not so bad.

I was watching the game on my laptop from the other side of the room and heard the crack of the bat and thought it was gone. The announcers tricked me into thinking it was a flyout and then all of a sudden I hear them screaming.

Obviously its playing the what if game, but imagine if the Cubs had one that game against St. Louis last Saturday. They would go into tomorrow with a 7 game lead on the Brewers and a 7.5 game lead on the Cardinals.

Shoulda woulda coulda

I kinda feel sorry for them; those guys haven't had too many times to get really excited this year.

izzy has to be about done, right? i don't know what situation the cards can use him in.

and chris perez looks a lot like farnsworth to me. very fast fastball, but it's also very straight, and he doesn't have much of a secondary arsenal.

Wow having watched that clip I can that without a doubt those are the most talentless announcers I've ever seen. Incredible.

Calling the walkoff homerun on a replay one of them goes "Baseball game!"

Problem with that is, you start analyzing every single game looking for how we should be leading the division by even more games. And at the same time, we've won a few improbable games as well (the 10-9 game vs the Rockies, after being down 8-1(?), perhaps?).

Been there, done that.

Geez Gagne to Mota is an enjoyable bullpen combo.

Haha, back in like 2002, that was a fantastic 1-2 punch for the Dodgers.

No I know...I just brought that up because it was the most recent blown game that we lost and one that cost us two games in the standings to the Cardinals

What a horrible call. It's like they spliced two different calls together.

:rotfl:

Kinda like they didn't know what to do from inexperience, eh?

....so they just started throwing together as many baseball announcing cliches as they could remember from past moments they saw on TV?

Great stuff. Soooo revealing.

BTW, the Carddies put down 22 hits tonight. And LOST. Hahahahahhh.

If there's one thing about baseball, it's that "emotional" wins or losses are quickly forgotten by the next game.
