In other news...

Iowa is tied 1-1. Pie is 1/1 with a walk.

Tennessee lost 5-2. Castillo was 2/4 with a double. Russell pitched mediocrely. Ceda, too.

Daytona is up 4-1. Grant Johnson pitched well.

Peoria is down 9-1 late. Pina pitched pretty well, but Castillo and Muller have not. The offense is spluttering, to boot.

Vitters with an RBI single in the first inning. Then he got caught stealing/picked off. And just now made a fantastic diving catch at third base for the first out of the 2nd inning.

The Hawks are wearing 1918 throwback Cubs unis. They look fantastic.

Harol Tolentino pulled in the 4th after getting in a jam and giving up a run. Pawelek comes in to put out the fire...gives up a sac fly (nice diving catch by Burke) and gets the other 2 outs easily. Tolentino's final line: 3+ IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 K/3 BB.

They're saying on the broadcast that 14th rounder Dan McDaniel has been called up from Mesa.

I apologize for ever doubting Mark Pawelek's ability.

In the bottom of the 9th, with Boise down 3-2 and the bases loaded, Josh Vitters walked. Ryan Keedy followed with the walkoff RBI single.

Vitters ends up: 3/3, double, 2 BB, 2 RBI.

I'd like for Vitters to stay at Boise for a while. He has a lot of work to do with the glove and he is raking right now. Let him continue to gain confidence.

I don't think anyone here is interested in him going up to Peoria and struggling.

He's still 18.

It's not like he's on the fast track.
