During the darkest days of WWII, valiant French resistance fighters hurled sticks of dynamite at the oncoming German hordes...the Germans lit them and threw them back.

wow, i'm the unofficial swimming commentator here at work, because the audio is off on the TVs, and i was telling people that the race was pretty much over - it was the world record holder with more than a half second lead. lezak definitely had the swim of his life - you get roughly 0.8-0.9 of a second "help" from your relay start. so lezak's relay split of 46.06 is completely insane - from a flat start, it would've been more than half a second faster than the old world record.

SUCK IT, FROGS.

Might want to find something else besides smack talk Bernard, 'cuz you suck at it BUD.

Hahah. See where you are standing? It's lower than the Americans, no? Wonder why that is, eh?

:hello:

dear god. i cannot believe what i just saw!

bernard makes those comments then chokes it away.

his split of 46.74 was actually pretty good... if you'd told me that he would split high 46 i would've said no way he gets caught. i literally cannot believe that lezak swam that fast. i don't know if it was the most exciting race i've ever seen - mostly because i wasn't comfortable with how close bousquet went in against cullen-jones, and then when bousquet opened up half a body length (he split 46.63 - that's nuts for a #3 in a relay) lead i had pretty much given up on the u.s. only in the last 10 meters did i think they had a chance.

you keep wondering at what point can they simply not go any faster, and then like 6 of the 8 teams break the world record. It's ridiculous

that's precisely why it was so excited.

NBC's main coverage is pissing me off. There was this big deal made about how they got the Olympics to schedule Phelps' finals races in the morning Beijing time so they could show it live in the US and only the people on the stupid East Coast (and I assume Central time zone) actually get it live while we're stuck waiting three hours to watch it on tape delay. This despite Bob Costas claiming in the NBC studio "Coming to you live in less than 40 minutes, swimming". This is a pile of BS. Why couldn't they show it live everywhere in the U.S. Now you're waiting until 11 p.m. out here and you're inevitably going to lose viewers even though you could show it at 8 p.m. out here which would easily be the better time to show it. Not to mention that it would actually be LIVE if they did that. LAME.

NBC5 was just showing the promotional video for Madrid's '16.

Looked like a Great Scott production.

Go Chicago.

I want to see Tokyo get it if Chicago doesn't.
