The subjective/judged competitions more often than not end up annoying me. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that -- who is to say which was better? It's a guess. Sometimes it seems like a team will get better scores not because they performed better, but because of reputation.

I like objective/scored competitions better.

Sooo... if Phelps already is tied for the most medals in history, still has 5 (?) events to potentially medal in this year, and, at 23, (I don't know much about swimming and career longevity/age), I'm guessing he has at least another olympics or two in his future, does he go down as by far the best Olympian ever??

Again, I don't really know much about these sports, but to have tied the all time record at age 23 while still having plenty of events left to go this year is pretty sick.

i don't know if they have a shot at beating the chinese, but they have a great shot at the silver right now with japan stumbling around like 6 o'clock at the karaoke bar.

They said the high bar was the worst event for the Chinese. If they continue to have one guy make a mistake per event maybe an outside shot. I noticed China's difficulty is way beyond anything any other team does.

Bend over US, you are about to get screwed by the judges. I would have sworn we would be in the lead by a point or two. Why I hate the sports where humans come into the equation of judging performance.

i have noticed that. even if they goof up, they still get a high score because the routines are so difficult.

Is that US history or modern Olympic history?

Tied for most all time

We need to drop goofy sports like football at the HS level and set up Olympic competition instead!

Can't let these peon third world countries take the gold.

Oh ya, like that is going to happen here in Texas :banghead: You may apply green text anywhere in this post

they're leading because they're better. the americans are sticking the landings but the chinese exercises are insanely hard.
