Big 10 folks, how badly will MSU fist KU in East Lansing?

Not as badly as you might think, should be a close, competitive game.

Although, I think Kansas is the most underrated team in the Big 12 right now.

Funny. I think they're a bit overrated, based on name alone. I think they have the pieces to be solid, provided Self can get the kids on the same page. But these guys are young, and it's not like a few years ago when it was a bunch of freshmen who were destined to be NBA players (Rush, Wright, Chalmers + sophs jackson and Kaun). This is a team with one, maybe two clear NBAers on it from my vantage, with several guys who might make it if they continue to improve over the years.

I predict a similar final to our Arizona loss.

I'm just wondering how Illinois losing by 10 to such a bad Michigan team fits in.

Other than the final score being not at all indicative of the game, Michigan shot 3's extremely well in that game. They're way too dependent on that shot. If it falls, they can beat anybody, if it doesn't, they can lose to anyone.

I saw Michigan shot 40 threes. That is way too much period, especially when you are playing a team of Indiana's caliber. Michigan is really lucky that they won tonight.

I'd be willing to bet a fair amount of money that they don't go 13-3. For whatever reason, the road in the SEC is very tough. Couple that with the fact that Arkansas is a freshman led team and you have the potential for a few bad games on the road.

I figure they'll go 11-5 or 10-6 at best.

Yes, they are talented ---- way more talented than anyone gave them credit for.

What's going to help is that they could well be 25-7 even after losing a game in the SEC tourney. The committee will have a tough time giving them a poor seed with such a good record and such good wins (Oklahoma and Texas) on their schedule.

I do agree that the SEC is down this year. The league really shouldn't get more than 3-4 bids this year.

I can't believe this is the same team that lost to Missouri State. But then, I was looking over some of the top 25, and there are a lot of weird losses in that bunch.

Assuming they beat Mississippi State on Saturday, where do you think they'll end up ranked?

Missouri State is a good team and it was the opening of their new arena. . . . and the young hogs' first road game. I expected them to lose that one. Then again, I expected Texas to beat them :)

Im not sure good is the right word here. The are tied for last in the struggling missouri valley with a record of 0-4 in conference play. Unfortunately the only team they are tied with is my shockers :banghead:

Dang. . . . I thought more of them. They are usually good, aren't they? They are the former Southeast Missouri State team that Alford coached, right?

i meant to quote the "arkansas will go 13-3 in the SEC) post :)

I understand tough to win on the road and all, especially for a young team, but the SEC West(similar to the Big 12 north for Kansas) is just so bad, that they should really be shooting for 9-1 in those games. I guess 13-3 was probably overstating things a bit, but Arkansas is definitely set up nicely.

ETA: Pomeroy hates them though.

They won. That's all that matters. :)

The SEC is definitely way down this year, but it will not be a cakewalk. Trent Johnson has something building at LSU and has alot of young talent. I am amazed by Arkansas, but they have not done well outside of Fayetteville yet-they are very young. Kentucky will probably get 19 or so wins and of course get in. Vandy is not so bad, tennessee is obnoxious but still pretty good. Georgia beat GA Tech. Florida will be MUCH better by March. Mississippi State may be the sleeper team-varnardo is a beast.

Georgia beat GA Tech.

(a) they lost that game and (b) penn state, UIC, alabama and virginia all beat georgia tech. they're not very good.

plus georgia has lost to loyola-chicago and texas a&m-corpus christi. georgia sucks.

I am now fairly optimistic that Indiana might win at least a couple Big Ten games. 2-16 FTW!

i'm a little worried about the snowball effect taking hold if they don't win one of these soon. they've had two chances to get an early win and have blown both. that's to be expected from this team, but i'd hate to seem them get so down that they can't bounce back. as much as i don't care about their record this season, i have to admit i'd be upset if they went 0-18. they have some really tough games coming up now (well, they're all tough for this team, but you know what i mean).

just win one, fellas.

After winning at North Carolina the other night, Boston College lost by 12 at home to Harvard.

That's just nuts and it was Harvard's first win ever against a ranked team

and it proves that they are the best team in the country and that illinois isn't good at all.

Well this Iowa team is doing everything it can to prove SSR right. What a pathetic effort in the second half.

The Tate injury obviously killed them but it was no excuse for the atrocious rebounding and absurd turnovers. Minnesota had 12 offensive rebounds in the second half alone and many of them where when they were playing a small lineup to matchup with Iowa.

Play close to average basketball for that 15 minute stretch and we win easily.

Lickliter got outcoached pretty bad tonight. The loss of Tate clearly killed us as we couldn't rebound in the second half to save our life. Oh well, I need to remind myself we are supposed to suck. Between the football team and basketball team these close losses are going to kill me before I reach 30.
