i remember someone showing me a website set up by jason williams, the guard who played for duke and then the bulls. it looked like it had been written by a 4th grader. they might have higher academic standards, but i'm not sure how much it applies for their basketball team.

it's Jay or Jayson but yeah if you find it send me a link

Man I thought we looked pretty good last night, Clemson was the better team and we had a chance to win it at the end. I do wish we would have gotten a shot off though.

The Big 10 needed to be winning coming into today to have a shot. Even if Tyler Hansborough is out, I don't see MSU having much of a shot. It's going to be an ACC blowout.

actually, jayson williams is the gun nut, ex-net who shot his driver.

it is "jason williams" but he went as "jay" when he went pro. don't correct people.

Do black guys hate Duke, or the other way around?

its not our fault greg monroe and patrick patterson didnt want to play for us.

black guys hate us i think.

The real truth of the reason is Duke does not change their academic standards for anyone athletes or not and they have some of the highest standards in the country. That makes it hard to get the inner city kids that tend to be the really great basketball players and are more often black. This is why Duke will never ever be good at football. You can't find 20 great players who are smart enough to get in let alone the 30-40 you need to compete in football. You can find 7-10 very good basketball players who are smart enough. I applaud Duke for not lowering its standards and its just unfortunate that right now the inner city is predominantly black and that's where most of the great basketball players come from.

Duke lowers their academic standards for a fair amount of basketball players.

Hell, they are recruiting John Wall.

Sean Dockery got like a 17 on his act.

That Iowa game left a bitter taste in my mouth. They could have been 7-1 after a tough 3 game stretch where they traveled from Iowa to Vegas to Boston (Chestnut Hill). I'm kind of upset about Lickliter's coaching for the first time all year. I don't understand why Tucker wasn't in on the last possesion, I understand he had struggled all game but, geeze, when you're down 2 it would be nice to have a guy who can shoot instead of a 20% free throw shooter. I also don't get why they didn't call time out with a young team in that situation. I wish Jake Kelly would stop trying to dribble the ball for 10 seconds and I am pretty sure that Brommer was shooting a three on the play where he was fouled (he wouldn't have made 2 of 3 most likely, but still). Granted it wasn't a normal looking shot but he's up in the air with a trowing motion towards the hope with no time on the clock, what else was he going to do? Pass it!

Ah screw it, why am I ranting about Iowa basketball on a Cubs message board.

(i'm somewhat stunned that this still exists, i would've thought that since it was hosted on duke.edu that it would've been taken down long ago)

Ok so I might be crazy, but I think Illinois makes the tournament this year.

They're a bubble team at least, which is more than they were last year.

Gun to my head I say we wind up as an 11 seed. Our tourney hopes probably rely on Legion being able to step in and be productive.

good news is we can shoot and we can score inside. bad news is that our interior defense sucks.

if we can't stop anyone, we might have to pull simpson off the bench.

Wow we looked bad against Duke. That was some of the worst shooting I've ever seen. We didn't score in 8 minutes. Don't get me wrong Duke is a good team and really impressed me, but We couldn't make a shot and that wasn't all because of there defense.

Maybe BJ Mullens will shatter his leg before we play them?

Duke's greatest strengths over the years has been limiting the turnovers they commit and limiting their opponents from shooting 3's. Purdue's team thrives on creating turnovers and shooting 3's. It was an awful matchup for Purdue. Purdue isn't as bad as they looked last night, and Duke isn't as good as they looked.

na dont burn him. he will be more important in the coming years when we are good. legion will be enough to get us in the tourny this year, which is all we could hope for.

I don't think he'd make that much of a difference on interior defense anyway. Obviously different circumstances, but it's not like Pruitt was able to step in during the title game and slow down May. Big men are slow to adapt, and defense is probably the last thing they pick up. You want a body in there to take up space, give CJ 10 minutes a game.
