According to ESPN 1000 it will be Hoffpauir and EPatt.

I can't imagine Murton makes it through the whole year in the Cubs organization.

if they aren't going to call up Murton when the guy at his position is injured (twice now), they need to just trade him (which JH may be trying to do, I guess). it's a complete waste at this point.

I wonder if we will ever hear what happened between Lou and Murton, for the Cubs to totally write off Murton. Last year the excuse was always that Murton could only play LF and he wasn't going to take time from Soriano. This year there have been two extended periods where the Cubs needed a LF and Murton doesn't get any real opportunity to contribute.

Here is to hoping that E Patt and Hoff get off to real fast starts.

So I'm guessing DeRosa gets a lot of time in LF and Cedeno/Patterson split a lot of time at 2B. I don't know why you wouldn't just try and platoon Hoff and Murton in left for the next 1.5-2 months.

b/c Lou hates Murton like nobody's business? I don't see another rational explanation for this to happen for the 2nd time in 2 months. Lou doesn't like Murton and they want Soriano's replacement to leadoff - EPatt plays 2nd and leads off, DeRosa in LF.

i'm curious to see how they're going to use Patterson on this call up. if he's going to play 2B, it's redundant to have him and Fontenot both on the 25. i'm kind of wondering if they'll be a bit of a platoon (offensively speaking) between Patterson and Johnson. Johnson leading of (CF) against LHP and Patterson leading off (LF or 2B) against RHP.

I still think it makes far more sense to bring Murton up in place of either Fontenot or Patterson to play LF against LHP.

ETA: Weird that Patterson hasn't played LF for Iowa at all this season.

Yup, Hoff and Patt up, Kevin Hart down. Its too bad for Hart. When I was a kid, and I knew bed time was coming, Id sometimes hide so my parents would forget. Kevin Hart seemed to be doing the same thing. I guess it didnt work for him either.

Yeah, that was my thought as well, but I don't mind this option either. Or Cedeno at 2B and DeRosa in LF.

That's exactly why I'm not too terribly concerned with Soriano going down. We have a lot of options to fill that spot.

So, naturally, the best thing to do is throw him in LF in Chicago!! :banghead: :banghead:

He'd probably be, at the very least, as good as DeRosa out there.

Yeah, DeRosa looked pretty shaky tracking fly balls last night. Not that I wouldn't put him out there because of it, but he's probably a better 2B than Patterson, so you stay stronger all around even if Patterson is shaky as well.
