A lower body injury of some sort. Maybe a hammy, a calf or a groin. Don't know yet. He grounded towards first in his ab in the 7th and took off the basepath weird. Tweaked something and had to be helped off the field.

Unless he physically cant move, LaRussa wont DL Pujols, which could lead to bad things for him down the road.

I don't think there's any way he can avoid the disabled list.

If it's bad, I say you just go ahead and knock out that Tommy John at the same time.

I was thinking the same thing. If this is a major injury/season ending (too early to tell), it is in his best interest and the Cards to get that nagging TJ surgery done as well. While Pujols missing extended time potentially helps the Cubs, I'm by no means reveling in it.

the cards should definitely play on the safe side and sit him out the rest of the year.

Absolutely. Ryan Ludwick will hit .400 with 40 HRs to pick up the slack, so it's all good.

Albert Pujols will leave Cincinnati and return to St. Louis for tests after aggravating his left calf in Tuesday's game.

"Based on what I saw—and I’m not a doctor—it was pretty bad," GM John Mozeliak said.

Good teams take advantage of situations of these...We just gotta keep winning and roll with it..

So he can't physically move?

He's going on the DL. Ducanc has already been brought up.

LaRussa had this to say:

"Normally you try and enjoy the moment and deal with everything tomorrow. But it's pretty tough to enjoy it when I don't think there's a way he's going to avoid the disabled list," manager Tony La Russa said. "That's baseball. That's a blow."

I hope Albert Pujols is out for the year but suffers absolutely no long term effects from this. And I hope that he remains happy throughout the rest of his life including this year.

I am trying my very best to not enjoy this. Say what you will, but theres a part of everyone out there who is doing the same.

I'm not even trying not to enjoy it. I'm just flat out enjoying it!

At GWRB they're talking as if he'll be returning at the same time Wainwright will but I don't see where that information is coming from.

I hope he suffers an unprecedented long term affect of not being able to swing the bat very well against the Cubs only. Outside of that, happy hitting to him.
