Who should we start hoping the Cubs pick, only to be devastated on draft day when they somehow manage to re-draft Tyler Colvin?

Probably someone who will fall due to signing demands. We'll see which one, since there are a bunch of Boras guys in this draft.

I think we should ask the Rangers to make our pick for us.

Luke Bailey's going to have TJ. He's a catcher, so it isn't that big of a deal long term. I'm not sure how much this will cause his draft stock to suffer. He was a certain first round pick prior to the injury.

Andy Seiler over on Sickels' blog is in the midst of his fourth mock draft. Here are the picks he's made for the Cubs...

Week of April 14th: (First Round, Second Round)

31. Chicago (NL) - AJ Pollock, OF, Notre Dame - People have been intrigued with Pollock's skillset since he came to Notre Dame, but he's been a little disappointing. He sits squarely behind Tim Wheeler in my mind at this point, but a team like the Cubs that values pure talent over polish will grab him in the late first to supplemental round.

. . .

79. Chicago (NL) - Ryan Ortiz, C, Oregon State - Though most scouts think Ortiz won't be able to stick full-time behind the plate, he's still a nice draft prospect with his athleticism. I've seen at least one Eli Marrero comparison, and Ortiz could definitely carve out a career in that mold. He doesn't hit for much power at all, but he's the Beavers' leading hitter and has a nice eye.

Week of April 21st: (First Round, Second Round)

31. Chicago (NL) - Kyle Heckathorn, RHP, Kennesaw State - The Cubs like their hard throwers and Heckathorn is just that. I fully expect him to go anywhere from 25-32 in the draft, as no one at the end of the round will want to pass up a great arm like Heckathorn's. Previously: #27.

. . .

79. Chicago (NL) - Ben Paulsen, 1B, Clemson - He continues to hit, and I wouldn't be surprised to see his name called earlier than this in the second round. However, if he's on the board here, I'd expect the Cubs to give him a shot. Paulsen's behind Rich Poythress, but it's not a huge gap. Previously: #72.

Week of April 28th: (First Round, Second Round)

31. Chicago (NL) - Jiovanni Mier, SS, Bonita HS (CA) - His draft position is pretty consistent, but it just depends who wants him more. He's the best pure prep shortstop without much argument, and the Cubs would love to find that kind of talent this late in the first. Previously: #33.

. . .

79. Chicago (NL) - Brad Stillings, RHP, Kent State - Stillings has been on the cusp of the second round in both my mocks before this, but with the question marks on a lot of college and prep pitchers at this later stage in the draft season, I think Stillings has secured a second round spot. Previously: NR.

Week of May 4th: (First Round, Second Round Upcoming)

31. Chicago (NL) - Eric Arnett, RHP, Indiana - I've seen enough features on Arnett recently to believe that someone will take him in the first round. His lack of a polished track-record makes me believe that enough teams will shy away from him, though. Nice regional pick here. Previously: #54.

he's pretty much a lock to go to the cubs.

Let me paint you a mental picture of Tim Wheeler. He's a 6'4" 205 lanky left handed hitting college outfielder with a well rounded tool set. He has average present power, but may be able to develop 20 home run power down the road, if he fills out his frame which has some more projection left in it. Wheeler also has above average speed, but not enough speed to play centerfield consistently. He does not have great arm strength, so left field seems like a likely destination in the future. He has a smooth sweet swing with solid bat speed and looks should hit for a decent average. He has yet to refine his plate recognition has does not show solid plate discipline at this time. While none of his tools are overly impressive he's solid average to above average in all of them, 55 or so.

Ugh, Mier and Poythress go right before the Cubs' pick.
