Yeah, it's early.

The early consensus #1 is RHP Stephen Strasburg, San Diego State (you know, the guy who struck out 23 a few months ago).

The big names I've seen mentioned thus far:

RHP Stephen Strasburg, San Diego State

1B Dustin Ackley, North Carolina

RHP Alex White, North Carolina

SS Ryan Jackson, Miami

SS Grant Green, USC

C Robert Stock, USC

RHP Kyle Gibson, Mizzou

LHP Mike Minor, Vanderbilt

Some HS names (obviously doesn't mean much now):

SS Mychal Givens, Plant HS (FL)

RHP Chris Jenkins, Westfield HS (NJ)

LHP Matt Purke, Klein HS (TX)

OF Donovan Tate, Cartersville HS (GA)

RHP Jacob Turner, Westminister Christian Academy (MO)

I'm not incredibly up to date on next year's top talent, but the University of Tennessee will have at least a couple of interesting prospects. Yan Gomes (C-1B) and Kentrail Davis (OF) both look to potentially be very high picks. Davis just missed out on SEC Frosh of the Year, but due to his age, he will be draft eligible.

texas, californnia and the south have dominated high school baseball and the draft for years. that dropoff has shrunk due to northern players doing baseball activities more year round than before out of necessity.
