So I just woke up (crazy night)... how bad did they look?

Just think 2007 Cobs.

Well no offense, but hopefully I can get an opinion from somebody who is actually objective.

Offense looked better than last time against Lowe. I'll be really glad when we are done with this week in enormous ballparks though. Middle of the order isn't making a lot of great contact this week and it continued today.

Z was quite good, gave up a HR to Martin(should've been a solo shot, thanks umpires) but was having a nice outing until he hit 100 pitches and fell apart and couldn't get 5 outs(thanks to Ramirez and Kosuke*) in the 7th.

*Kosuke's play was quite difficult, but the ball hit the pocket of the glove, and he's made many more difficult plays this year.

Don't forget Theriot dropping a few throws on SBs (it looked like they had Pierre on one of them).

And I was pretty sure Kent was out before Martin's HR, thanks for clarifying.

Remember when DLee didn't suck?

I honestly think Lee is on the down-side of his career. He will be 33 in September and it isn't just his offense that has taken a hit this year. He is still an above average defensive player, but he is making a lot more errors than he has in the past.

Thats one of the dumbest things Ive heard in a while, and Ive been known to say some dumb things. A player "on the down side of his career" doesnt go from being the offensive star of the team hitting .330 with an OPS over 1.000 to a .220 hitter all of the sudden. A player in a slump, or a player with an injury he doesnt want to tell anyone about does.

On the bright side, Howry, Marmol and Woody have all gotten a two-game rest and they'll have another off day on Monday.

Umm, 2005 was 3 years ago.

Yeah, but earlier this season was a month ago. You have to remember, traditionally, Lee has been a .280/.400/.450 30 HR type of player. 2005 was an oddity for him.

Yeah, because no player in MLB history has ever started off the season red hot and then come back to earth.

coming back to earth and being on the downside of ones career are completely different things.

For the 24 fans out there, Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida) was at the game and they showed him in the jumbotron. And yes, he had a Cubs hat on.

I'm not suggesting that Marquis has pitched well, but I wouldn't categorize these as horrible blowups either...........

They've won in spite of Marquis. With the bats seemingly quieting down for now, he's likely to not have that cushion. It was a miracle he only gave up 3 runs last time with how many guys he walked ad how many times he was in hitter's counts.

4 starts all year where his ERA was below 5 for the start, and 4 starts where it was over 6 for the start. There may only be one disaster start in there by definition, but the lack of innings and stream of runs given up is pretty terrible.

Haha. Anyone watching the FSU/Wichita State game on ESPN? They just had a REAL Bartmen insident in the game. A fan reached over the fence in foul territory and took the ball right away from the 3rd baseman. The hitter hit a 2-run homerun on the next pitch.
