Is really damn good (thus far)

Walk-off homer to cap a 3/5 day at the plate today. I wonder if Dusty will still start Corey when he "figures out his swing" and is called back up

jesus, he destroyed that ball.

you can see the catcher already start walking off the field before the camera cuts to the ball landing in the seats.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Reds creep back into the race like the Astros did for a bit down the stretch last season. They've got enough weapons that Dusty can only hold them back so much.

yeah he could turn out to be very good but then again Kearns had a hot start 5 years ago or so and then fell off the face of the Earth.

Almost worried about him taking the ROY away from Soto

Don't worry, his K/BB ratio in the minors combined with Dusty's influence will eventually show through.

Of course. At the end of the year, Dusty will attribute Bruce's great year to the fact that Dusty only put him in situations where he could succeed, after putting Corey out there the other half of the time. Gotta build the kid's confidence while he learns the league, dude.

Yeah, I don't think we'll have to worry about seeing Bruce more than a handful of times. Can't keep running rookies out there once the rest of the league has the book on them.

I see him as a threat to Geo's ROY chances. Something must be done.

could be the ryan braun of the year in other words the guy I hope decides to drive the wrong way down the high way while drunk

Question is, would you trade Soto for Bruce (hypothetically, of course)?

Prolly not. Note, I said PROLLY, don' tmean I wouldn't, just mean I wouldn't trade him wihtout blinking an eye. I would trade Geo, only because catchers like Soto, IMO are valuable to a team then OFers like Jay Bruce. I'm not taking anything away from Jay Bruce, he's an extremely talented OF, but CFers like him---regardless of the Cubs---are easier to find then catchers like Soto. Not to mention, I am not saying Soto is more talented then Bruce, but catcher like Soto are harder to find, not to mention harder to developed then CFers like Bruce.

I know I am going to be flamed for this, and go ahead. I like Bruce, I would trade for him, if I could, but I absolutely believes that Soto is more valuable to the Cubs, then Bruce is to the Reds.

In a heartbeat

Ditto, +10. There's very, very few players in MLB I would trade Geo for straight up. He's one of them. And after making that trade, I'd spend alot of time second guessing myself.

See: Baker, Dusty

I was just gonna post that.

Quick, call Corey Patterson back up.

I called it!

Reds recalled OF Corey Patterson from Triple-A Louisville.

He's baaack! With Ryan Freel headed to the disabled list and Ken Griffey Jr. also hurting, the team needed depth in the outfield. Patterson won't take at-bats from Jay Bruce, but if Griffey continues to miss time, Bruce could slide over to right and Patterson might get a few games in center. The team could also use Paul Janish at short and stick Jerry Hairston in center.
