When a RH pitcher is regularly making LH hitter's knees buckle, that is some filthy, filthy stuff.

He is just ridiculous when he's on. Nearly unhittable.

How many times has the side been striken out in 9-10 pitches before. How may times a year?

Fred?

I remember Latroy Hawkins did it on 9 pitches against the Marlins in 2004.

That 8th inning was surreal.

just as impressive as 3 strikeouts on 10 pitches is that they were all looking. From my memory, the last cub pitcher with a performance as dominating as that was ten years ago this month.

Check out the top of the 9th and look at the pitch totals for each at-bat.

Yeah, that was the game where Lee's bases clearing double was hailed as irony/revenge for the previous year. That worked out well for us...

Huzzah! Huzzah!

However, I don't want this guy at the all-star game. I want him resting and not doing anything in the least bit dangerous to his health, including using sharp knives and can openers. Send someone to his apartment and make sure there are no loose carpet threads over which he can trip. Don't let him have any pets with teeth or claws, like cats or dogs or pirahnas. Hopefully, we'll need him in October.

That was a pity HR he gave up to Scotteh P. He said, "look, Scott. I know you're never really going to do anything else in your career. 2005 was your peak. So I'll give you this pitch right here, you can hit it out and feel like you brought your team a step closer to a win, that you would have tied the game if not for Fukudome, whatever. Take it. Enjoy it. But it's a one-time deal, and man is that guy hitting behind you gonna pay for it afterwards."

Yeah.

Carlos has struck out 3 batters in a 1 inning appearance 3 different times this year, but only once with a PC in the range of 9-10......

On opening day he struck out 3 over 1-1/3, throwing 9 pitches.

Yeah, that was a real strange set of circumstances. He relieved Zambrano with 2 outs in the 7th, and a 2-2 count on Corey Hart, and proceeded to strike Hart out, throwing 1 pitch. Then he came back out in the 8th striking out J J Hardy on 4 pitches, pinch hitter Gabe Gross on 3 pitches, and got Jason Kendall to pop out on the first pitch. So while he did get 3 Ks on 9 pitches, it really isn't the same kind of circumstance that the original poster was asking about.
