Who said we shouldn't start Theriot at 2nd against a lefty? PrimeTime?

Good call on that one.

Theriot on base four times tonight. Two singles, two walks.

You missed my sarcasm, sorry that should have been green texted Bruce.

It's been a rare occurrence this season. :(

Yeah the Cubs farm is depressing this year, to all those who don't follow it closely.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

what does hoff's success have to do with jimmy's future? he cant cover CF.

I don't care. I can have irrational hope. All Cubs fans do.

it's probably 75% the fact that the big club is really good this year and 25% that the prospect pipeline is piss-poor, but i've found myself caring a lot less about the minors this year. and the draft too, i guess.

What? wood coming in?????

When he gets warmed up, they tend to not want to sit him. I don't know why, maybe someone with physiological background might explain what happens if you get a guy up and then don't use him.

Wood was stretched. He's gonna go.

What the hell difference does it make? If you get warmed up then come into the game, you'll cool down anyway afterwards, just like if you warm up and then sit back down.

His arm is fine. If you're going to baby him that much put him in a diaper. My god.

No, but the next plan if Pie isn't ready and Edmonds is cut is to play Fukudome in center and Hoffpauir in right. Hoffpauir's continued success convinces them to do that.

Yeah, if only we had a lefty CF prospect ...

So then let him pitch. This is a crappy team in town for a long series...odds are they won't need him for 3 games in a row.

I'm still at a loss as to who I think the top prospect currently in the minors is for this team. Colvin's patience is better, but his power is down. Vitters has been dinged up and hasn't had many professional ABs. Robert Hernandez and Dae Eun Rhee need to get back to Peoria soon. James Russell is a back of the rotation type. Eric Patterson is decent but nothing special. Josh Donaldson is slumping horribly. Tony Thomas hasn't shown he's much better than Eric Patterson. Jeff Samardzija...we don't need to go there.

Nasty!

yeah the notion of a guy having to pitch in a game situation after warming up is idiotic. lou is completely talking out his ass in this case.

I would guess they have good reasons for doing so - personally, if it keeps Wood healthy after so many years on the DL, they should baby him all they want.

I just don't understand why he absolutely HAS to pitch after warming up, as if it's going to hurt him if he doesn't.

The prospects likely to be available for the Cubs in this year's draft are relatively unremarkable. Happily, there isn't a big talent dropoff between the Cubs' 1st, supplemental, 2nd, and 3rd round picks. They should be able to get some good guys at the top of the draft.
