In the first inning, the umpire got visibly pissed off at the Cubs' dugout, to the point he took off his mask and told them to "Shut the hell up!" The camera showed the Cubs dugout and everyone in there was laughing about it.

Did Lou say anything about that in the post-game press conference? What happened?

Lilly giggling like a schoolgirl and trying to hide it cracked me up.

When Lou was talking yesterday about it, it sounds like everyone was clowing around loudly in the dugout then and the ump thought it was directed at him.

The Cubs-Dodgers game was only two batters old Tuesday night when plate umpire Bob Davidson walked toward the Cubs' dugout and began yelling at bench coach Alan Trammell.

"Bob told me to tell Trammell to drink decaf," manager Lou Piniella said. "I got a kick out of that. Yeah, he took his mask off and got his game face on. It was a TV game. He knew what he was doing."

Just unbelievable how immature some of the umps are. I guess it goes to show you -- even at the highest levels people are essentially the same. They still crave attention, act badly sometimes, make mistakes, etc.

I could live with the occasional mistake if they didn't have such massive superiority complexes and were consistent with calls.

This is what I hate about umps/refs/officials. They think they are above there respective games. Many of them think it's about them. IMO something should be said to this guy. Will there be. NO WAY THAT HAPPENS! Thus making the superiority complex to grow. Lou put it best when he said it was a TV game he knew what he was doing.

And him chasing Dero to the dugout when Mark complained about a pitch is another instance of these umps going above themselves. I am so sick of umpires thinking that they need to that and make a point that they won't be yelled at.

You never used to see umpires follow a player half way to the dug out after he made a comment about some calls and turned and walked away. Again....are they not supposed to diffuse the situation instead of follow someone and instigate more? Pathetic if you ask me, call the game and go home.

What happened between the ump and Gallagher in the middle of the game. After the inning, just before commercial, they showed Gallagher walking off the field when the ump apparently called him over. Len and Bob didn't seem to bring it up the next inning.

one of my favorite moments in baseball history came when the commissioner's office accepted the resignations of all those clowns who thought they could bully the league

i would just like to say that strike two to fontenot in the 7th inning was several inches outside of ball four to matt kemp in the fourth inning. dunno if davidson was doing that on purpose, but his strike zone was lousy last night.
