Less than two weeks ago, all you heard was how we should be replacing our all-star outfielder with Reed Johnson, how he was terrible in LF and how if he did play he should be batting in the 8 hole. I think it's time for all the so-called Cubs fans and baseball experts to sign the attached thread petition and ask Zo for his forgiveness.

How bout it?

btw...Soriano has eclipsed his HR pace of last year at this point.

The odds were greatly against Soriano hitting .180 all season. I'm not surprised he's turning it around. That said, his contract still stinks and I'd still rather have signed Carlos Lee.

His OPS has risen by over 200 points in the last 5 days (updated through the end of the 4th tonight). If you discount pinch-hitting appearances, he's gotten a hit in 17 out of the last 18 games he's started. The last 4, he has 2 hits or more, and the last 3 he's had home runs in.

Basically, this is Soriano. The roller coaster will continue to ride all season, and you never quite know if he's going to end up with very good production or just average.

He still makes me nervous.

But I posted " give Soriano a Code Red "

which was deleted mods...

But I will say, he has really been hitting well!

Soriano I am sorry...

and also sorry about the "talent" I saw you with at Pittsburgh..

Or maybe it was just moved to rants for amusements sake.

+1

Just because his numbers will be there doesn't mean I don't hate watching the guy play.

when soriano is cold, he's really cold. and when soriano's hot, he's really hot. this is nothing new. when soriano's on a cold streak in a few weeks the same people will demand his removal from the starting role.

i know, it was like this all last year. it's like a quarter of the people on this board just started following the cubs this season. thinking that soriano would be a terrible hitter all year was the epitome of ignorance.

If you posted something that was deleted, is it really wise to post it again?

I still think the man is way overpaid for the type of offensive player he is...impatient, free swinging, and streaky. I knew he would come out of his slump...but soon enough, he'll be back swinging at everything in the world....and missing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is pretty much a 180 from his post that was deleted. His "give Soriano a Code Red" was a post about his concern with Soriano's performance, wasn't it? This is a post saying he was wrong.

and then he'll be back hitting .500 with 6 homers over a 2 week spell.

I hate how much he reminds me of Corey Patterson at the top of the order:

Every CP/AS at bat ever goes:

Pitch - Location - Result

First pitch - heart of the plate - Called Strike

Second pitch - Outside Low/in Dirt - Swinging Strike

Third Pitch - High Outside - Foul/Fly Out

Fourth Pitch - High Inside - Swinging Strike/HR

Wash and Repeat.

All in all I hate his approach, but enjoy the results, look forward to .280/.291/32 HR/ 76 RBI

Your description "impatient, free swinging, and streaky" fits most power hitters. Your description "way overpaid" fits 98% of major leaguers.
