good lord. it's stuff like this that makes me glad that I have a VIP line both to get in the stadium and to the concession line. They got this idea from the Rivermen, who managed to get 7000 people to games (and not a single one actually *saw* the game). We'll see how it goes - those folks are really expensive to bring in - hope the Chiefs will break-even (Rivermen tickets are $18/$13/$10 ) - more than the Chiefs $10/$9/$6.

Incidently, in addition to doing "Pink in the Park" a couple of weeks ago, the Chiefs are doing Prostate Cancer awareness day with jerseys on 6/15 too. They also usually open up the field ahead of time for a "Play catch with dad on the field" - so with the celeb being there, not sure exactly how that'll get handled.

AZ Phil at Fitch

Biggest news is that Micah Hoffpauir will be joining Iowa as his rehab was completed today.

  • 2007 24th rounder Scott Meyer was cut.
  • This week's position-to-mound convert is 22-year old OF Andres Quezada.
  • Don't know how reliable AZ Phil would be on this matter but he says SS Lee Hak-ju is 17.
  • Josh Vitters arrived at Fitch. Rehabbers Brandon Guyer and Jeffrey Rea are still only doing BP. C Jose Guevara is hurt.
  • Julio Pena started and threw 3 scoreless with 4 K. Kevin Kreier pitched well again today: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.
  • SS Junior Lake went 4/5 with a double.

And for Jon, the killer bee hive was removed by an exterminator. Sorry for your loss.

Mixed results for Hill so far: 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 Ks, 1 HR, but most importantly, 0 BBs.

The HR was given up to Jeremy Reed, who is off to a great start to his season.

They'll come back. They always come back.

Des Moines Register[/url]"]"Jon Lieber told me to go down to Iowa, work on what I need to work on, and get back to Chicago as soon as I can," said Hill of advice the Council Bluffs native offered as he packed for Des Moines three days ago.

"He was OK," Iowa manager Pat Listach said. "I think he lost some focus when the catcher stole third on him, but I thought he threw the ball OK."

...

"I want to see Rich Hill back up here," Lieber told the Chicago Tribune. "He's a big leaguer, and he's got all the right things."

Meanwhile, Lieber starts today in Cincinnati, while Hill prepares to pitch again Sunday in Des Moines against Portland.

"Jon and I became good friends very quickly," Hill said of Lieber, a free agent signee in his second stint with the Cubs. "He's one of the best guys in baseball, everyone said."

Lieber's parting words: Attack the strike zone. Pitch with confidence.

"There's a lot of advice that gets thrown at you, especially when things aren't going too well," Hill said. "Sometimes you tend to listen to all of it, but you don't decipher what you need, and that's where Jon comes in."

Iowa Cubs' pitcher Rich Hill slipped to the ground as he watched catcher Koyie Hill make the play on a ball hit between the plate and the mound in game against the Tacoma Rainiers.

The walks thats what i care about. Then the K/IP ratio.

Im pleased with last night.

I agree with Lieber and been saying this about Hill from the beginning. He has to attack and have confidence in himself and when he nibbles he walks guys and gets ripped.
