I hate to say it, but Cook has pitched very well today since the 2nd inning. It's hard to work the count when the pitcher isn't throwing pitches outside the strike zone.

Lets' not take anything away from Cook, facing a hot team like the Cubs, and his handling them very nicely, he's having a good performance. And Marquis is matching him pitch for pitch. So, something tells me this game will go to the bottom of the ninth.

I really don't get it. Since when has "giving up hard hit fly balls that hitters have barely gotten under" been the same as "matching him pitch for pitch"

Fine, if oyu want to play technicality, Marquis was matching Cook, OUT FOR OUT. Is that better?

What i was trying to say is that marquis wasn't doing anything besides getting lucky.

I think this is the inning Rockies score on Marquis

Why did you have to say this?

It was bound to happen..He dosen't look good out there. All those balls are hit hard and in the air..Lou should've taken him out after 6

It's just annoying that Theriot and Fontenot are still getting props from LSU long ago.......these guys really dont deserve starts....maybe Theriot due to a good start, but cmon start Ronnie!

If they can get out of the inning giving up just the one run, there's still plenty of time to get back in the game.

That's a mighty big if...

Pessimist.

Soto, Pie, pinch hitter. Yes we can. Yes we can.

Solid outing from Marquis today. He wasn't sharp, he got extremely lucky, but he gave us the innings that we needed, and we're still very much in this game.

omg the Cubs might go to 15-7, after going only 3-1 against the NL favorites and last years NL champs!

I'm jk, actually the reaction on the board has been rather levelheaded

The Cubs are facing three lefties this weekend so with Cook, a righty, throwing today, Lou probably wanted to get Fontenot in there since he probably won't start against Washington.

Something tells me this is reserved for the whipping boy. If Z or Hill pitched the same way, no one would be saying anything (of course he's a crap-ton better, but the point is still the same). Luck is only thrown out there when the NSBB anointed whipping boys do well.

I'm actually more on edge than usual. The more we keep winning, the less I want to lose.

BS.

Marquis is a sinkerball pitcher who was keeping the ball up all day. There were plenty of hard hit balls, many of which just missed going out. I don't care who does that -it's not a good outing.

Marquis flirted with danger, but take him out now, and its still a quality start. Meanwhile there are 2 innings left, and this IS Coors field, vs. a pitcher with an ERA of 3.12, meaning if he stays the whole game, we owe him 2 more runs.
