I think the "strained tricep" report was erroneous, at least for now. The Brewers are saying that it's just tightness. I guess he felt it last start too and it creeped back up tonight when they had a 5 run lead so they didn't want to take any chances.

Its times like this I love rotoworld:

Ben Sheets left Friday's game after five innings with right triceps tightness.

So it begins. Sheets tossed five scoreless innings before departing the game against the Reds. If he's DL bound -- and he usually is -- then the Brewers won't have to drop anyone from the rotation to make room for Yovani Gallardo. Apr. 18 - 9:08 pm et

I remember in 2004 when Kerry Wood left a game in LA with triceps tightness.

Yep. That turned out well for Woody.

Calling him injured is a bit premature right now. Was Zambrano injured when he left his opening day game?

Yeah but what is Zambrano's history of serious injuries compared to Sheets's?

This actually sounds a lot like the Woody situation a couple years ago.

ESPN.com

"It's just sore," Sheets said, acknowledging he was a little worried. "It's really sore. It's kind of a crampiness in there."

Sheets (3-0) felt soreness in his right triceps last Monday, the day after his 5-3 win over the Mets and Johan Santana. The hard-throwing right-hander with a history of injuries retired 18 in a row in that one.

The soreness didn't go away all week. The arm was still bothering him Friday night, though no one could tell by the results. Sheets allowed only a pair of singles in five innings, looking very comfortable in a hitter-friendly ballpark where he has never lost.

Kerry made a similar type statment, when he was pulled from the LA game a few yrs back:

I mean, it didn't kill me out there, but it's not something you want to play around with in May.

And he would eventually miss two months of the season with..........strained triceps. So if I am Milwaukee, I would count on anything from Sheets for the rest of the yr.

I love this set of quotes from sportsline:

News: Brewers SP Ben Sheets left Friday's game at Cincinnati after only five innings because of tightness in his right triceps. He felt soreness in his right triceps last Monday, one day after pitching. The soreness didn't go away all week. The arm was still bothering him Friday night, though no one could tell by the results. He allowed two singles in five innings, striking out four and leaving with the Brewers ahead 5-0. He ultimately picked up his third win of the season. "He could have continued easy, but this is not a time to take a chance," manager Ned Yost said. "He was throwing good, but I'm not going to take any chance with Ben Sheets in April. I'm not doing it."

So, Mr. Yost, you won't take any chance in April. You're not doing it. Yet, when he felt tightness in his tricep after his previous start, you sent him back out to the mound on regular rest, anyway. Isn't that taking a chance with Sheets?

This makes me happy because it hurts the Brewers

This makes me sad because it hurts my fantasy team.

nobody cares about your fantasy team. rawr.

And why would you draft Ben Sheets anyway? Sorry Roast, but that wasn't the smartest pick. Predicting Sheets goes down with an injury is like predicting...

He was probably a late round pick. In one of my drafts he didn't go until the 16th round, likely because of the injury isues. When you're that late in a draft and you're thinking "I need a pitcher, who should I choose Ben Sheets or John Koronka?"* I think the choice is clear despite injury concerns

* John Koronka is not a good fantasy option, and was used solely as an example of the quality of pitchers left over in late rounds drafts
