Cuba's population was under 10 million in the 1970s and Castro was a notorious baseball fan.

it's not crazy to wonder if a cuban born baseball player had ever met castro. That's like wondering if a major leaguer had met George Bush (many have).

For some reason this thread reminds me of a baseball card I have of Luis Salazar (actually it was my dad's but he gave me all his baseball cards). The only reason I remember that card is because he had a cool mustache.

How many of you old timers remember him?
Getting back on the actual topic, I remember him from the 70s (I started following the Cubs in 1969). He was the Cubs' top relief pitcher for a couple of years in the mid-70s.
