Since the NHL playoffs start this week I think they deserve theie own thread. Who do you got.

East

Canadians vs. Bruins

Penguins vs Senators

Capitals vs. Flyers

Devils vs. Rangers

West

Red Wings vs. Predators

Sharks vs. Flames

Wild vs. Avalanche

Ducks vs. Stars

My heart says Wild all the way. My head says it's going to be Montreal vs San Jose.

Sure would've been nice if the Hawks made it.

I miss the playoffs and Roenick. Hopefully next year is the year, and they can get another good lottery pick this year. Outside of that all I really want is to see the Red Wings go down in the 1st round.

First: I wish all of the "Original 6" would have made the playoffs. If that would have happen, you might have seen some of the highest ratings for an NHL playoffs in a long time. So maybe next yr, Toronto and Chicago can get into the playoffs.

Second: Every Western Conference team (including those pansies in Detroit) are so glad the Hawks didn't make it. You can make the case that the Hawks are the most talented team, NOT to make the playoffs.

Third: I agree with the assessment, that Detroits needs to be eliminated in the 1st rd.

Fourth: The matchup, I like is the Montreal .v. Boston. Any time you have the battle between two "Original 6's" in the playoffs, it should be a fun series.

Here we go Wings, Here we go!!!!!

If the Hawks were any good they would be in the playoffs. Most talented team not to make it??? Say hello to Vancouver

I think the NHL are not going to allow too much clutching and grabbing because they really want Pittsburgh to make the finals.

The NHL has never had a fix in regarding that. They have had some of the worst matchups possible for the Stanley Finals TV wise.

i can't believe the preds made the playoffs....from what i saw of them this year they weren't very good.

they'll probably get swept out by the wings.

I hope you're right but imo it's going to be a battle.

The Hawks blew their chance at a playoff spot in January/February where they went 1-14 over a 15 game stretch. Sure, 6 regular players were out, including Toews and Havlat, but if they even got 1 extra win in that stretch, they're in.

It wouldnt be a fix. It would be calling the game like they do during the regular season and letting the best players play.

True but refs get pretty funky once the playoffs start. I hope they do call it close.

Your joking right? Outside of Luongo Vancouver isn't very talented. The Sedins are second line players, and have proven they can't handle first line duties. The hawks have a far superior set of forwards. The D is basically a push, although Vancouver's D is more experienced and has a little more depth. Again, besides Luongo Vancouver is not close to a playoff team in the west.

i freaking hate the ceebeejays. they are a joke of an organization. atlanta has improved since they came back to the league. minnesota has made a deep playoff run and even won a division title. what have they done since they have been in the league (and why is this relevant to this thread)?

the colorado avalanche had 95 points to end the season with 44 wins. my avs were beaten by the [expletive] ceebeejays TWICE. those two wins equalled 4 points. the wild won the division with 98 points and 44 wins. they picked up one point at the end of the season by getting into a shootout with the avs. that last game could literally have been made insignificant if we would have won both of those games.

it is also significant in other ways. we have not been a particularly good road team this year, nor have we scored on the red wings this season. so i think that if the avalanche are going to make a deep playoff run, it will be one of the hardest roads taken should the avs beat the wild and chalk plays out the rest of the way.

so not only do i hate the ceebeejays because they [expletive] suck, they probably cost my avs from getting to the conference finals at least, let alone the first round.

I've got my playoff beard going. Of course, I've had it since probably last year's playoffs.

How does this work? Should I have already quit shaving? Can I shave on the day of game 1? I dont want to jinx my team by messing up my playoff beard.

And the WILD loss games they should not have also. It happens to every team.

while i may agree with you if it were against any other team, before this season, the avs had only lost ONCE to the ceebeejays in team history. i don't think that the avs have dropped that much or the ceebeejays gained that much for the avs to lose in the way that they did. plus the wild won the division. so congrats to them. but those two losses if you saw the games weren't the close ones that you think they may have been. we gave up a 3-1 lead in the last 10 minutes of the game and lost 6-4. my post was not about the wild but about us and how not only was that an almost microcosm of our season, but how two games has literally altered our chances of doing any damage this postseason.

in other words, unless we steal a game in st. paul our of the 4, we're done in round one.

Actually this series scares me. All the Wild fan's wanted to play you guys because we have struggled against Calgary. You guys are probably more dangerous then them. I think this goes at least 6 games maybe 7. Of course the Wild win.

I watched some of the Flames/Sharks last night. Sure looked like the Sharks controlled the action, just couldnt get the puck behind Kiprosov when needed. Yes I know I am not even close on the spelling of kiprozof.
