Marquis comes out after giving up a single in the top of the 5th. Good move-don't hurt his trade value. I thought it was a nice ST outing. Could be his last in a Cubs uni.

Yes, he's gone in within a week.

I think so too, with the lack of starting pitching. I'm thinking Philly, the Indians or the Mets. Baltimore can't take on his salary and they're #4 place at best. Hendry needs to just dump the total salary and not worry about getting anything back. It's addition by subtraction. I hate it when we pay for someone to play elsewhere.

Shealy - single to center

Eyre into pitch for CUBS

Shealy steals second

German - BB, runners on 1st and 2nd

nice camera shot of 2 milfs

Maier - PO 6 in foul ground, 1 down

? - LO 5, 2 down

Pena - 4-3

Eyre works out of the jam

Our A line-up is looking horrid today.

It's looked pretty bad all ST.

I know it's only spring training, but I think it's time Lou give this lineup some work and let them swing their way out of their slump. I don't buy the thinking that we'll just start hitting in two weeks in a frigid Wrigley Field.

The pitching and defense have looked solid for the most part, but the offense has been non-existent.

Dusty would say it was playing in the cold weather, but I completely agree. Why not come out of ST swinging the bats well?

On the plus side the pitching for the most part has looked pretty solid.

I would way rather have Ronny playing SS than Theriot

So would I, but Ronny hasn't looked all that great either.

What's Cedeno actually done to prove that he's a MLB caliber starter though?

Cedeno batting for Eyre takes 0-2 pitch to right for a single. Theriot bunts down first and pitcher falls down. 2 on..no outs.

He had a golden opportunity in 2006 and failed. I'm not against giving him another shot but he has to show more than he is now for sure.

what has Ryan Theriot done?

For starters, he led the Cubs in SB last year and also proved he could hit a little...unlike Cedeno.

And is now 25. Like I said, he needs to show something more than he is to justify another opportunity or risk being labeled as a AAAA player never losing the "prospect" label. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to see him at short but he can't be a guaranteed hole in the lineup. He has to beat out Theriot.

It was nice to see a Cubs hitter take a changeup low and away to RF, it seems like every LH'er that goes away with the soft stuff will get the Cubs hitters to pull off the ball.

Lee has been doing that the entire game, he has to find out where RF is again.

DLee looks about 10-15 lbs lighter, especially thru his upper legs. Wish he'd start to drive the ball some.

All that weight apparently went to his face.
