ESPN baseball analyst Rick Sutcliffe has been diagnosed with cancer.

Sutcliffe, 51, was diagnosed after a routine test during a physical revealed that he has a treatable and curable form of colon cancer. Sutcliffe will undergo chemotherapy and surgery over the next few months and said he hopes to make a healthy comeback later this year.

As someone who had to put up with only espn games for years until mlbtv arrived Rick has always been a break from the cub bashing Joe Morgan etc. Love his contributions tro the cubs convention and of course his contribution to that '84 cubs team. Get well soon top man.

I'll drink to his health.

Likewise.

My namesake and Sutt were my heros when I was but a wee lad in 84'. 16-1, Cy Young, and the 84' East title are still my fave Cubs memories. He did everything he could to get us past the Pads, including hitting a towering HR in Game 1.

I also emulated his mechanics...and still do when I think no one else is looking.

The term "ginger" was around and common waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before SP jumped on the bandwagon.

Compounded on that, I'm assuming you meant to say you didn't why know why anyone OVER the age of 15 still watches SP. The way you posted makes all of your other posts make even less sense.

Get well soon indeed. It appears that they found his cancer early. That's always good as I found out personally; I had the same diagnosis, 14 years ago. Rest easy folks, his recovery is assured. :D
