Returned RHP Esmailin Caridad, RHP Jose Ceda, LHP Geoff Jones, OF Tyler Colvin, OF Andres Torres, INF Bobby Scales, C Welington Castillo and C Josh Donaldson to Minor League camp; Optioned RHP Billy Petrick to Triple-A Iowa.

 

After all the hype, I would have expected Colvin and Ceda to stickaround a bit longer.

After all the hype, I would have expected Colvin and Ceda to stickaround a bit longer.

 

They're good prospects. Neither of them are ready for the major leagues though and probably won't be for at least 1 more year.

Not to those who are going to start above AA. Colvin is also banged up and Ceda was struggling, neither made a case to stay any longer.

All of those guys sent to minor league camp just need to wander across the complex to minor league camp. The guy optioned to Iowa has to go back to Iowa immediately and wait there until the rest of the team arrives from minor league camp in a couple of weeks.

Bummer for Petrick. Maybe that means they like what they see out of Ascanio. Speaking of which, who knows where Ascanio stands with options?

 

Ascanio was added to the Braves 40-man last year and correct me if I am wrong still has all his options left.
