I'm sure that Lou will be real happy about that after the game.

I'd just like to know how Soto got an infield hit to the pitcher. It must have been a perfectly placed mistake...

edit: Nevermind, I apparently can't read. He got hit by the throw to first.

Sullivan was just referring to Marquis' value because of his win totals the past few years. "Yet he still gets left off the playoff roster for some reason" Yeah, I wonder what that reason would be Paul? I sure hope there are a few GMs that think like him at least.

This is typical Marquis when his sinker is working. A lot of baserunners (5 in 3 innings) but since everything is on the ground, they are only going for singles and he also makes chances to get saved by a DP.

Let's just hope he doesn't fall in love with that sinker and try to throw fastballs constantly like he did at times last year. He really needs to throw his breaking stuff to be somewhat consistent.

So you're saying that not only is Fukudome pretty fast, but he also has an aptitude for running the bases?

While I agree that he needs to be throwing his breaking pitches effectivly, Marquis is one of the pitchers that people talk about when they say, "a well placed fastball is the best pitch in baseball."

Marquis finds himself getting into trouble when his fastball gets up in the zone. His arms seems to get tired, and his arm falls behind and his ball doesn't sink as much, and thus is up in the zone.

I'd say both. He looks to be extremely well schooled in the game.

7 ground ball outs for Marquis. Definetly a positive. I find myself defending Marquis more than the average Cubs fan. The guy is so solid when he's on. If he could put it together for a full season we would run away with this division.
