The thing that strikes me most about this hearing is how stupid the committee is. How the hell do these guys hold public office? They're like monkeys with microphones. Especially Mica. WTF was he going on about? I'm totally sure you're going to catch the liar by rambling incoherently on about the colors of B-12/Winstrol/HGH while rubbing your head like Paris Hilton trying to do quantum physics.

And I don't think things are looking up for Clemens. The guy can barely put a sentence together. And did you see the way he grimaced when the Rep from Mass. busted out that MRI stuff? He didn't look confused or surprised, he looked like "oh, crap".

And I also love that people are acting like McNamee lying should be some sort of revelation. It's not like he has (had) a reputation among his clientèle to protect. If Greg Anderson had testified instead of going to jail, we'd be hearing the same stuff about him. Of course they lied to protect their clients, it was in their own best interests.

This whole circus is just [expletive].

Agreed. Rep. Burton's questioning of McNamee was just ridiculous. He had an agenda to pick him apart and did it in a dramatic fashion just to smear his credibility. He had no intention of getting to the bottom of the discrepancies.

Roger appears to be full of it and now that the potential witness tampering has come out it just makes him look that much worse.

Also the legal analyst on ESPN just said that it appears Republicans were siding with Clemens and Dems with McNamee and Mitchell report. I thought i was just blowing that out of proportion in my own mind. WTF is that about?

In general, the right thinks that govt. has no business butting into this mess. I don't think they are pro-Clemens as much as they are anti-govt. involvement. The business reporters on CNBC are treating this affair like it is the Spanish Inquisition.

They just have an overall dislike of any kind of oversight as they've shown for the last 7 years.

In this instance, I tend to agree. It seems as if they have better things to do than this. Better things like protecting citizens from unlawful data mining and making sure that telephone companies don't get immunity. But, hey that's just me.

Well, if we can't separate church from state, we might as well combine the efforts of MLB and state.

could william lacy clay's questioning have been any more useless? basically "hey this is awesome, i'm talking to a famous ballplayer, here are a couple of softballs roger!" he's from st louis so i guess we shouldn't expect anything useful from him, but still.... come on man.

Our priorities are beyond f'ed up in this country.

I missed it too, but reading the blogs about it is pretty funny. Sounds like they both got torched pretty badly.

Things are looking good for clemens.

McNamee looks like a little smug punk. He looks defeated now.

I guess all clemens can say is "I think he mis-remembered."

They should have had Pettite there to help his memory.

I think it's funny that Pettite, Knoblauch, and apparently Roger's wife where all HGH users, but Roger wasn't.

Andy Pettite should have been there today and I don't really understand why he wasn't.

Because he decided to tell the truth. And the whole truth torches his best friend. So he ran.

He was already torched by Pettite's testimony. Pettite should have been there.

I'm not arguing that he should have been there. I'm just saying: the reason he wasn't was fear. Fear of having to lay out all the gory details right in front of his friend, and watch him figuratively die.

As much as I think that Roger is guilty, the whole congressional dog and pony show just makes me sick. It makes me sick that our elected officials can waste so much time on something that in the end won't affect anyone in any way. It's not like we have a war or possible recession going on now or anything.

yeah well they spent lots of time trying to figure out what to do with iraq and look how that turned out. as long as bush is in office i hope that the federal government wastes time with stuff like steroid hearings, because anything that they do accomplish will probably be bad.

I would like to hear a private conversation between Clemens and Petitte now

Petitte has enough money unlike the nanny and congress to tell or go after the truth. I wonder how much money Clemens has given to the republican party and how much of an influence Bush was in this debacle.

Amusingly enough, I got to see Clemens (and the media circus surrounding him) in the hallway as I returned from lunch the other day.

Dear Natalya,

My kids still believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and one was arguing last night that The Undertaker really did set Kane on fire with the intention of killing him because they are mortal enemies and want each other dead. Plus they like their mother, so we have proof of exactly how misguided they are. I cut them slack because they are small children.

Thank you,

NSBB's Bob Sanders

That's OUTSTANDING!

Also, I just wanted to add that I don't think Roger Clemens is an intelligent person. Obviously that's not a prerequisite for playing baseball...but he just doesn't seem like a smart person.
