I wasn't pushing for his return, but rather stating that his production went up from 06 to 07.

As for acquiring him, he'd be a very nice 60 SB asset in the 8-hole, eh?

Juan Pierre made 548 outs last year. All by himself. 15 of those outs came on stolen base attempts.

the year before, he made 566 outs.

I don't want this man anywhere near my team.

Ryan Theriot sucked, and he made nearly 100 fewer outs than Pierre.

And he batted 130 times less than Pierre. Pierre was more efficient with the bat than Theriot

Pierre still blows. I don't want his noodle arm anywhere near Wrigley unless he's jogging out of the visitor's locker room.

He hit .293 which would've been towards the top for this team. Not to mention the 60+ SBs he brings to the table. I'd rather have Pie in CF just for the sake of developing a young guy by letting him play. But if he goes, I'd take Pierre over w/e trash you have in mind (Byrd?) any day.

i have never once advocated adding Byrd.

and he hit .293? Wow. His IsoD was .34. That's horrendous. His OPS was .684. Good god. He had a whopping 33 walks in 729 PA's. Juan Pierre is not terribly good at baseball.

and as i've said, 60 steals is nice and all, but he was caught 15 times, which negates 15 of the times he got on base (which he didn't do very often). Also, for a "speedy" guy, he managed just 24 doubles and 8 triples in a pitcher's park.

Are you seriously citing batting average? Come on.

BA and SB aren't exactly good evaluators of a player.

I hope you aren't for signing Lofton, then. Kenny ain't much of a CF these days.

To be fair, he didn't say that his defense (arm/glove/whatever) was the reason he didn't want Pierre here.

Some people actually think Pierre is good? Wow.

Well, don't forget that our boy Jim traded 3 solid arms for him only 2 years ago.....I'm still trying to get over that.

Yeah, it still haunts me that we lost 2 terrible SP's and one average bullpen arm. Sucks that we got that Donaldson guy as well.

It's not necessarily that I'm pissed off about the success of the players we ended up trading. Far from it. It's just that those three guys had enough value at the time to be traded for someone better than Juan Pierre.
