On the same day that Congress asked the Justice Department to investigate whether Miguel Tejada lied to a house committee investigating steroids in baseball, word came out that the brother of the Houston Astros shortstop was killed in an automobile accident.

 

Freddy Manuel Tejada, 37, died Tuesday afternoon when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a sport utility vehicle in Bani, a city in the southern part of the Dominican Republic.

 

According to Melquiades Arias, a Bani police official, an unnamed woman with Tejada was injured in the collision and is in critical condition. She was transported to a hospital in Santo Domingo after receiving treatment at a local clinic.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Miguel Tejada's "immigration status could be in peril" following congress' decision to ask the Department of Justice to investigate whether he lied to federal investigators in 2005.

 

Tejada is a legal United States resident and has a green card, but the newspaper notes that "there are some instances in which he could be denied entry back into the country just by admitting he committed a crime for which he is being investigated."

They might be able to void the trade under those circumstances. I'm not sure; I don't know of any precedence for this situation.

A tough month for the mom. first son is found out to be a liar and a cheat and the other dies. My heart goes out to her.

Tejada was two obvious, one yr. less than 20 hmruns next three over 35 and even over 40 hmrns. I wish I could say I feel for the Astros but I don't.
