Yes, thats the news I have been waiting for! Time to order that coveted Cotts jersey.

You beat me to the punch with the faux enthusiasm.

Faux?!? How dare you. sir? How dare you!

Okay, that is quite enough I guess.

Details on the deal from the AP

The Cubs and left-hander Neal Cotts have agreed to a one-year, $800,000 contract and avoided salary arbitration.

Cotts began last season with the Cubs and was 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA in 16 relief appearances before he was sent to Triple-A Iowa on May 20. He never returned to the big leagues, going 2-2 with a 4.83 ERA in 24 appearances, including six starts.

Cotts was a key reliever for the 2005 World Series winning Chicago White Sox. He was traded to the Cubs for right-hander David Aardsma and minor league pitcher Carlos Vasquez in November 2006.

His deal also includes performance bonuses in which he would receive $25,000 for each plateau of games pitched if he reaches 50 games, 55 games and 60 games.

I bet he gets traded.

Can't be until July now right?

Wrong.

Nothing like that good ol' NSBB info and helpful attitude.

You did notice how I worded it as a question because I wasn't aware of the answer, RIGHT?

He was never a free agent and can be traded at any time.

Thanks, I appreciate the help. I really am clueless about end of the season transactions.
