Blunk said the Cubs will hold their first retro game in the coming season. Players will wear replica 1948 uniforms as part of the 60th anniversary of WGN-TV.

"We've never done one at Wrigley," he said. "It seems like a perfect fit. Every day is turn back the clock day at Wrigley."

That is fan-tastic. Management needs to mandate that all personnel in uniform wear their pant legs right, just for the one day/night.

I thought for sure they did one a few years back. When Mike Morgan threw the first pitch of the game with the old time windup. Was that a road game?

That's a pretty good representation of the team's history.

Sweet uniforms, though, and I agree that the socks/stirrups are awesome.

the white sox did a turn back the clock with the cubs in 04 or 05 at the cell. It think Z pitched in the 1908 uni's. They looked sweet.

I'm nearly positive the Cubs haven't worn throwback jerseys for a game since before Ryno retired. I know the Sox did a thing in 2006 (I think) where they played every Sunday home game in their throwback jerseys, but I'm almost completely positive that the Cubs haven't worn a set of throwbacks in years.

I don't remember the uniforms involved, but Fox did a Cubs/Dodgers game a few years back that was turn back the clock broadcasting.

The only problem with retro jersey day is the other team wearing their present day jerseys and making the whole thing look sort of dumb. Hopefully this game will be scheduled against a team that actually existed in 1948.
