If there is any remote chance of moving Marquis, I'd do it. I'd also gamble on both Colon and Clement if their price tags are reasonable.

If we could get him at a very reasonably price and one year (with an option maybe), I'd give it a shot. Worse thing that happens is he doesn't pitch well and only costs us a couple million, if that.

I'd hate to have a bunch of cash spent on Marquis, Prior and Clement. I'd rather bring a young guy up and put the money into a quality hitter. Now, if the Cubs trade Marquis and Prior, then yes, it might be a nice gamble.

Yea, good point. I'm assuming Prior is gone though, and Hendry is entertaining offers for Marquis, so who knows.

We certainly don't! It would be nice to get those 3 prospects for Prior, Trade Marquis and his salary for a B prospect and sign Clement if he can pitch. I figure that out to save the Cubs about 10-Clement and should be enough cash for a trade for Tejada or sign Fukedome.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA...slow down. That all makes too much sense.

Agent Barry Axelrod said Matt Clement is fully recovered from surgery, but some clubs are wary because of the extent of the work that Dr. James Andrews did on Clement's shoulder. At the moment, interest in Clement isn't quite as brisk as it initially appeared, and he might have to sign a minor league deal.

If this is the case, I'd definitely take a flyer on Clement.

Offer him a Wade Miller-style deal.

He's worth the risk.
