Do you really want Illinois to face the best offense in the entire country? Number 1.

Yup I do. Do you really want Floridas D to face 1 of the top rushing teams in the country? We can keep your offense off the field.

You arent ranked number 1 in points scored, rushing yards, or passing yards. Please put your magical numbers out there that show Florida is the best offense in the nation. Cause the stats disagree

The stupid stats disagree.

Points Per Game - Schedule Rank - Team

1. 48.0 - 153 - Hawaii

2. 45.8 - 101 - Kansas

3. 44.2 - 122 - Boise State

4. 43.4 - 69 - Oklahoma

5. 42.9 - 9 - Florida

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Running up the score heavily affects PPG.

Can you just admit you hate Florida and the SEC.

Margin of victory this year:

Hawaii: 24.5

Kansas: 31.6

Boise State: 25.9

Oklahoma: 25

Florida: 17.6

And you're accusing Florida of running up the score.

I don't know if Florida runs up the score or not, but those stats prove nothing. Florida plays in the SEC, and, thereby, won't get the opportunity to run up the score many times. They'll play close games and lower their margin of victory. Heck, they have three losses to lower their margin of victory. You can only run up the score when you're up big, and, generally, you're not up big against fellow SEC teams.

florida dropped 59 on tennessee and 51 on south carolina

Tennessee's secondary was absolutely horrid then and still isn't that great. There are very good athletes in it, but two of them are true freshmen and one has no past experience in Division IA (JUCO transfer).

Putting up 59 on us at the time wasn't that special. South Carolina, though, is very impressive.

Ive never had a problem with Florida or the SEC until I read this thread every week and see the bashing of the Big Ten no matter what happens, and the ass kissing of everything Florida Gators and SEC.

can you admit you hate the Big Ten?

I don't hate the Big 10. I just think it's devoid of any good teams.

no, i said i would fully expect Florida to destroy Penn State, but that matchup isn't happening unless Florida loses again

So I heard that Illinois can make the BCS as long as they finish 14th in the BCS rankings because of the rule where only 2 teams from a conference can make a BCS game. It still might be a longshot, but there's a chance that Illinois could be in a BCS game.

SIU got the #4 overall seed in the I-AA playoffs meaning that we'll have home field advantage for at least the first two rounds. Our first round game is against Eastern Illinois on Saturday afternoon.

Ahh, that is correct. Florida would beat Illinois three fourth of the time. If the Illini beat the gators in a close game it wouldnt prove the Illini were better than the Gators. The converse is also true.

Cmom guys Any?

Meph your latest rankings has Ohio State #5. How is that not good.

Now, I'm not in the mood to defend OSU but they are a good team.

Eh, I meant exactly as in exactly.....i dont hate the big ten, i just dont think its very good this year.

as for OSU. Ive got my doubts on whether theyd finish with less than 4 losses running through say, Floridas schedule.

well since they are a superior team to florida they would probably lose less games than florida did.

I would go further to say that half of Florida's wins would be blowouts too. Illinois has a good young team but I don't think they have dominated the clock quite the way some of you think they have. I could see them falling apart if they get behind early. Either way, I think this would be a great experience for the team.

Despite UCLA having the weekend off, Coaches Hot Seat moved Dorrell to #1 on their list of coaches on the hot seat:

Coach's Hot Seat Blog[/url]"]1. Karl Dorrell – There was a very troubling development in Los Angeles this past week when a reporter with the Los Angeles Times, Kurt Streeter, sat down with Karl Dorrell and they decided together that Dorrell is not being treated fairly by the people who calling for Dorrell’s ouster. In the article Dorrell went as far to say, “I don’t feel I have gotten a fair shake.” Shame on Streeter and Dorrell for playing the race card at this moment, because to imply that Dorrell is being held to a higher standard or is not coaching on a “level playing field” because he is black is an outrageous allegation! By any standard Karl Dorrell has done a mediocre job at UCLA, and if you compare him to the coach that preceded him in Westwood and was also fired, Bob Toledo, Dorrell’s record is worse. After coaching 60 games at UCLA, Dorrell is 34-26 (.567) and Toledo after 60 games was 37-23 (.617). Dorrell has two games remaining on the ’07 schedule, Oregon and at USC, and after 62 games at UCLA Toledo’s record was 39-23 (.629). In all Toledo spent 8 years at UCLA and his winning percentage was .605 and he was fired for doing a very mediocre job, and Dorrell should be fired as well if he cannot win his last two games of ’07. Getting back to Kurt Streeter’s article on Dorrell not getting a “fair shake” I hope that both of these men realize that playing the race card every time a black coach does a poor and mediocre job only jeopardizes the opportunity for more black men to get head coaching jobs. If an athletic director or president might be worried that he will have a difficult time firing a black coach because he has done a poor job (see Jerry Baldwin case), then that will lead directly to black coaches getting passed over for head coaching jobs in the future. A few of us here at Coaches Hot Seat have run into Karl Dorrell on numerous occasions and we have defended Karl as something more than just a football coach, but no longer. This is OUTRAGEOUS and UNACCEPTABLE for Streeter to infer that people are racist because they think Dorrell has done a mediocre job at UCLA (he has) and that he should be held accountable for that mediocre job. If Streeter somehow believes that people are scared because of "political-correctness" to send Dorrell packing for the job he has done in Westwood, then he is sadly wrong. Dorrell, like any other man, white, black, yellow, green, blue, orange, or whatever race you want to dream up to divide people with, can end this speculation on his job by winning his last two games. It is just very sad that Dorrell has decided that he cannot stand up like a man and get his team ready to play Oregon and USC, but rather play the race card in a pitiful effort to save his own hide. Shame on you Karl Dorrell, because you should know better. As far as Streeter goes, we fully expect things like this…

Sorry fellas, if Florida doesnt make the Citrus Bowl its looks like they aint gonna play Illinois.

Now Michigan's most likely destination appears to be the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio or Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando.

"At best, they'd be looking at the Alamo Bowl,'' said Frank Frana, an official with the Capital One Bowl. "At best.''

"There are at least four teams ahead of them: Ohio State, Illinois, Penn State and Wisconsin,'' Frana said. "Their bowl opportunities are going to be tough.''

Frana all but ruled Michigan out of the conversation for the Capital One Bowl ("It's just the matter of the pecking order. We try to get the best teams.'').

Mitch Schriber, part of the Outback Bowl's selection committee, was lukewarm about Michigan. And it wasn't just the cold, raw day in Ann Arbor.

"They're certainly going to be part of the conversation when you look at the teams with eight or nine wins,'' Schriber said. "I think it's something where we have to meet as a committee and make a recommendation to our board and see what happens.''

Farna expects Illinois or Wisconsin - which both finished 9-3 - to land in the Capital One Bowl.

The team that isn't picked would be the heavy favorite for the Outback Bowl.

That would leave Michigan and Penn State competing for the Alamo Bowl and Champs Sports Bowl. Michigan beat Penn State during the season and finished with a better conference record (6-2 vs. 4-4) than the Nittany Lions.

The speculation is the Capital One bowl against Florida. The article you posted supports that speculation, it doesn't refute it.

EDIT: At this point, the only things that would prevent an Illinois/Florida matchup would be if either of them makes a BCS bowl (not out of the question if, say, Georgia makes the SEC title and and loses), or if the Capital One bowl would somehow prefer Tennessee to Florida or Wisconsin to Illinois.

oh man would michigan be able to force a single punt against the tebow spread offense? without carr that game would be an embarrassment. even if the illini dont make a bcs bowl, the capital one bowl could take michigan over illinois: they travel better. although the zook uf matchup is appealing for a bowl in florida
